Where do I start....
Tyrannical work environment. Management will curse and yell at people. You are watched, always. God forbid you want to joke around with coworkers and have a conversation while you work. The second you do this you will notice management walk over as a hint to make you shut up. You have no privacy; your emails and chat will be monitored. Not for the purpose of checking your work but instead to spy on you. It’s creepy.
The director of the department is a monster and a disgusting person. I value the dirt beneath my shoes more than I do him. He has had various complaints against him and and has yet to get in any serious trouble because of them.
You will not get a raise. If you’re hoping you will within some time, I hate to break it to you, you won’t. There have been people here for years who get change as raises.
You will be required to do things that are out of your job description and you will not be compensated for it. This would be ok if you were given some hope that this extra responsibility will lead to a better position or compensation but you will get neither. Management will give you bs run around about how they want you to show dedication and how that dedication will lead to opportunities but it never will. This is absolutely a dead end job. They just blow smoke to make you work harder for them. If you bring any of this up you will get the run around.
From the day I started. Nearly all of the original employees left due to all the problems stated above. They have poor employee retention rates because after you get an idea of what you’re in for, you want to leave.
Their benefits are awful. You are given a measly 5 vacation days and in our department, some of the holidays are not compensated for so you are then asked if you’d like to use your vacation days to cover for holidays, so you really get no vacation time.
Management shows a lot of favoritism, specifically and especially towards female employees. As a female you will get coddled and given special treatment and opportunities to make more money. I am female so there is no bias here in regards to my gender.
I have had management make inappropriate comments during meetings, not enough to get them in trouble but enough for it to feel like they are crossing boundaries.
Beyond all of this. I don’t think it’s a great company to work for overall. Poor pay, poor benefits, poor leadership.
The only time I’d recommend working here is if you’d like to get some experience on your resume for career advancement. If you have another offer, go for that offer and thank me later.
