Pros

LONG is a great company that invests in their employee. LONG provides me with opportunities for personal growth by training me, allowing me to explore new ideas and providing me with a wide variety of projects to keep my job interesting. Management provide me with flexibility to balance life and work which further motivates me.

Cons

It would be great to get more PTO. However their PTO policy is comparable to other companies.

WORKING AT LONG BUILDING TECHNOLOGIES

Pros

There are new challenges everyday, with the ever changing hvac controls industry. Whether youre in the control installation, programming, or the service department, you have no option other than to stay current on technology. Long provides training, and support to its employees to help them maintain the proper level of competency to work on the new complex systems as well as the antiquated systems. There is a wealth of information from our employees, as well as from our suppliers to answer any and all questions that may arise, so we can complete our tasks with pride and knowledge. It seems you can and will learn something new each day.

Cons

The biggest con working for Long is the weekly travel that takes you away from home. It is usually only 4 days a week, so its not as bad as some other jobs with travel involved, but it can be an issue for a family. Depending on which business group you work for, promotions can be hard to come by. Everyone has to wear multiple hats, so finding a higher role level can sometimes mean its just you working at a higher level, more responsibilities, same job.

Pros

LONG gives employees autonomy more than equal to their ability. LONG is continually working with new and upcoming vendors as well as internal improvement with CRM systems, etc. in order to further simplify processes and allow its sales force to focus on the most important assets, our customers.

Cons

With a large regional operation it is becoming harder to maintain a consistent, progressive culture in all offices.

LONG Building Technologies Response

Thank you for the feedback. As LONG continues to grow, keeping that "small business feel" is harder and harder to do. The trick is to convert what makes LONG, LONG, into something scalable, and that's no small feat! Leadership is conscious of these challenges and we're currently working toward consistency with processes, systems, etc.. The training piece is a focus for LONG IT and others involved in the network/system infrastructure, and will be an ongoing focus as LONG expands and technologies change. Thank you for your 8+ years at LONG!
