Pros

Best reason to work there: Not even close to being full capacity.

Cons

Challenges of working there: 1 CNA per 14 residents--high acuity residents who require assist with all ADLs. High fall rate. One CNA at night for the whole nursing home building and they are all incontinent. Every other place in Wichita pays their CNAs more.

Legends Senior Living (Park West Plaza Facility)

Pros

This nursing home and assisted living is a private pay facility; there isn’t any complicated Medicare or Medicaid charting guidelines. The residents are elderly residents who need assistance in their retirement. Since this facility does not have Medicare or Medicaid services available, there isn’t any IV’s or too complicated or sick patients. Basically, this facilities population is elderly people who are wheelchair bound and need transferring/ dressing assistance or those who are suffering from dementia and are no longer safe in a home environment.

Cons

The facility is very unstable, creating a stressful and unprofessional atmosphere. Staffing is always short- in every department- but felt most in nursing. This facility is constantly trying to cut corners financially, leaving staff to work in unsafe and dangerous work environments. There are huge problems with communication between staff and management. The management of this facility acts unethically with disregard employee labor laws and safe nursing practices. The schedule is never set in stone and can change day to day, leaving it the employee’s responsibility to call everyday to find out if they are working the next day or not.
