Pros

My overall experience at Lose It! has been very positive. I feel like the work is engaging and meaningful, and I love knowing that the product I work on helps people live healthier lives. My coworkers are friendly, helpful, talented people who really make it a great place to work. The company also has exceptional benefits. The two that stand out to me are 100% health insurance coverage and the annual company trip to Europe (unfortunately postponed this year, but hoping we’ll travel in 2021!) I also really like the work/life balance the company promotes. I never feel like I need to put in a certain amount of ‘face time’ but rather I can get the work done on my own time. It’s never a problem if I need to take some personal time in the middle of the day as long as I’m on top of things.

Cons

I’ve noticed some issues with communicaiton as the company has grown. Working remote this year has probably made it worse but I think it’s one area the company can improve. I also think it’s the kind of place where you really need to figure out things on your own. People are very willing to help when you ask them, but there’s not as much hands on guidance as I’ve experienced elsewhere. Not really a con, but something I think candidates should know before they apply.

We are glad you are enjoying the benefits we have to offer and are using them as intended to optimize your life and work experience. We don’t need to work a 9 to 5 schedule to support our mission but we do need to work together to support our members. They don’t punch a clock and neither do we in our efforts to support each other. This means some weeks are lighter and some weeks are heavier. Regardless, we trust our employees will deliver. As a small start-up that has scaled in size, communication continues to be an area of improvement for us, especially in a year where we are all working remotely. We do have new online tools and systems that have helped us in this space in addition to our existing channels (direct communication to managers, CEO, and President, regular team meetings, etc.). But, we know we have more work to do in improving general communication, adjusting to individual communication styles and continuing to find ways to stay connected while we are apart. In regards to health insurance, our goal was to add an additional offering for employees (generated from an employee request), and we have no plans to change or reduce any benefits in the near future.
