Pros

Remote work and nice colleagues!

Cons

This was the worst remote job I’ve ever had. At first I felt good, trying to help people gain access to mental health services, but it quickly turned into just being focused on Numbers, and it shifted into a call-center set up. We were on an assembly line taking call after call. They stopped caring about the employees, well-being, and started micromanaging everything to where we couldn’t even get a breather between calls. We were literally tracked all day long and if we were in a certain status for too long, we would quickly be questioned. I don’t know why this role request mental health clinicians because we don’t use our clinical skills. We read a script and if we deviate from the script that’s a problem. We have to rush our crisis calls to be around 15 minutes or less and not much can be done that quickly. It’s a soul sucking role.

Pros

This team is full of helpful colleagues that are always willing to support. Unfortunately, that’s where the the pros stop.

Cons

You’ll be micromanaged by them scheduling your breaks & lunches, watching how long you’re off the phone, and you’ll be glued to your laptop all day because you’re in a call queue. They meet with you to go over your call metrics and call recordings. This role is based on metrics and not how clinically sound you can support clients. They want your calls to be under 15 minutes per call. The leadership thinks we’re customer service agents working in a call center instead of licensed clinicians supporting clients with their emotional needs. This job is emotionally draining. Interesting for a mental health company. The turnover rate is unbelievable and the worst I’ve seen at any job. I’ve seen about about 10+ clinicians leave within a year. You will not be using clinical skills. They want you to read from a script verbatim. They may as well just hire customer service agents. Stay far away!

Pros

There are so many great things about working with Lyra. The education and learning is top notch. The systems work really well almost all of the time. Ability to make your own schedule. Clients from all walks of life. Easy to rack up coaching hours pretty quickly. Paid vacation, holiday and sick time.

Cons

The pay is ridiculously low and makes me feel resentful. I coach people who make $100k-200k+ per year and yet I don't get paid what my training and experience deserves. Also, as a part-time coach, I do not have access to coaching through Lyra. I would have to coach 4-5 people in order to pay for one coaching or therapy session with an average coach independently. It's a mental health company who doesn't take the mental health of their part-time coaches seriously. Mental health coaching means coaching people with problems and it's hard not to absorb the energy. Doing that for 16-20 hours/week without support is a lot to ask and isn't sustainable.
