Pros

I’m employed and get a paycheck. That is why I have stayed and that is why I’m here.

Cons

No breaks, unrealistic expectations, no regard for people. They immediately came in and took away benefits and only care about the bottom line. I have 1 hour break in full day. It is horrible. I can’t get up or it accounts against me. This is the worst kind of job I’ve ever had. Before the take over we had at least 2 15 minute breaks. They cut a lot of other stuff but there’s no point in mentioning it. I really have no words for the inhumane treatment that I am experiencing at this moment.

The voice of our employees is important to us. We are committed to engaging in open dialogue with our employees whether it be via internal or external channels. We offer various schedule options in an effort to meet the needs of our Rubys; however, a full day is eight hours of work. Ruby's who work an eight-hour shift will be scheduled for two- thirty-minute rest-breaks or an hour meal break, whichever works best for them. To specifically address the needs of our teams for other time away from call-handling activities, our adherence goal allows for about twenty-eight minutes a day for our receptionists to step away for unplanned breaks, as needed, and still make the adherence target. It's true, we have made necessary adjustments to ensure we are able to meet the needs of the business and our commitments to our customers – which includes major systems upgrades and quality of experience for our receptionists; however, we continue to offer dynamic schedule options, a fun and engaging culture, and a generous benefits package. We understand if you don't agree with the changes, please know that while you continue with us, your feedback is important to us, and we are happy to meet with you to discuss your concerns in person via office hours.

MAP destroyed Ruby!

Pros

Ruby was the BEST company I've ever worked for. They took pride in their employees and appreciated us for our hard work and our Customers also beamed with joy to hear from a Ruby Receptionist. You have to work 36hrs or more per week to qualify for FT benefits which now only include ESOP, 401K, PTO of less than 5hrs each month (around 2 hours or less earned bi-weekly depending on how long you've worked for Ruby/ MAP), $15,000 coverage for life insurance with the option to purchase more through Guardian, and health insurance, but you have to pay for your own vision and dental premiums and they cut off our STD and LTD benefits.

Cons

MAP recently acquired Ruby Receptionist, a 5-star organization that had won multiple awards, and whom quickly tumbled down once they sold to MAP. We were spoiled Employees, however, our voices were HEARD and our CEO kept very open communication and involved us in new software implementations and ANY organization changes. MAP is a 2.5 star company. One would have assumed that MAP would have seen how happy and motivated our Employees were and then applied the amazing benefits we had from wellness days, sick time, regular scheduled breaks, a generous PTO, UPTO, performance incentives, Sabbatical, and more to their current organization to bring them up in ratings instead of crashing the entire organization as one. If you reside in OR, WA, and I think possibly AZ, you get to take 2 - 15 minute paid breaks and a half hour unpaid lunch break. If you reside in MO, KS, or TX, they're making us take either 2 - 30 minute unpaid breaks through-out the day or an hour unpaid without any other breaks scheduled. They're punishing employees for stepping away for a quick BRB to use the bathroom during their work day. Rubys are trying to hang onto every fiber of their well-being, but our mental health has declined since MAP has taken over and it's very apparent in several comments from Employees on channel posts. It's SAD! MAP has done Ruby employees pretty dirty. Our voices are no longer being heard. They gave raises to try to make up for them taking away the benefits... what made Ruby the best place to work for!! I had never met a sad and distressed soul at Ruby UNTIL MAP came along. Now, we're all waiting and wondering when our last day will be upon logging on for the day. We are on egg shells walking into changes nearly every day... changes to operations, meeting robotic expectations, and more. We have gone through 2 Operation Managers since MAP has taken over. We had lost several inspiring and amazing Coaches aka Supervisors, and sadly many had been with Ruby for years before their jobs were abruptly turned over to dust and they were left with the option to quit or step down. Many who tried to step down, HR wouldn't work with their schedules as a Receptionist, and so they were forced to quit. Literally not making this up! It's truly a hostile and truly sad environment. Farewell to Ruby and our mission statement! Welcome, MAP! The worst company I've ever worked for.

Our Rubys and customers continue to be the heart of our business. We understand that in times of rapid change, not all communication cascades to each person in the organization, and that can cause assumptions to be made. To fulfill our brand promise, having receptionists available to greet our callers is paramount. We adjusted time-off allotments and our full-time eligibility requirements to continue to meet our customers' needs. Additionally, we offered each Ruby that did not meet these requirements the option to modify their work availability to maintain their benefits. For flexibility, part-time schedules are provided to existing Rubys when possible; however, our traditional schedules are full-time. We are pleased to offer our eligible Rubys, which comprise 90% of our workforce, generous benefits that include comprehensive health/medical coverage, a 75% full match for employees and their families, and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan introduced in 2023. All acquisitions come with some realignment and changes in staffing. Our updated technology and access to in-house resources created some role redundancies. Through the acquisition process, the Map and Ruby executive teams collaborated closely to minimize layoffs and disruptions where possible. In areas where a return to roots was viable, supervisors were offered the option to transition into a receptionist role while keeping their salary/benefits package and schedules intact. The Services department follows a standard ready-time adherence model, which allocates an additional twenty-four minutes in a traditional eight-hour shift for unplanned events – in addition to scheduled meal/ rest breaks. Performance management continues to be handled by Ruby's leadership. Performance and disciplinary policies are published and acknowledged by each employee. Ruby's policies and coaching practices are designed to support incremental growth and improvement. With the exception of egregious behavior, performance plans are created with enough runway for the employee to make the needed changes to succeed. If you're interested in getting more clarification, please feel free to schedule office hours with any member of the Ruby or Map leadership teams.

MAP continues to lead the way for our employee owners toward our mutual success. While the process and challenges that come with acquiring a new entity can be challenging for our team members, we value all of our employees and their contribution to our future. Our average tenure far exceeds most other answering services which is a testament to the teams that find the work we do fulfilling and meaningful. Though you’ve not asked for a response, we’ve provided one, because even though you may have worked only part-time, and for a short while, you too have contributed to our success along the way. If you’d like to chat more with us about your experiences or thoughts, please feel free to call us and we’d be happy to discuss with you further.
