Pros

Get to use skills, work with animals.

Cons

Management, burn out rate, not valued as an employee. It's a corporation. They do not care about their employees or any type of work life balance. They expect you to work all of the time whether it's on call, picking up shifts or going to ridiculous meetings outside of scheduled hours all of the time. The managers will take advantage of you, abuse you and then blame you for being burnt out or shifts having low moral. They target certain employees and make their lives living hell for no reason other than one staff member said something negative about them because they dont like them. It's like working with a bunch of children and high school girls. They put making money for themselves above all else. The majority of employees that come through the door realize they no longer want to work in the veterinary field after dealing with the management here. The employees are all very negative and it directly is a result of crappy management. The entire er department is looked at as incompetent by other departments and our managers do not stick up for us. If you enjoy being overworked, underpaid, having no life outside of work and having managers make you feel like you aren't good enough then work here. Otherwise I do not with this place on anyone. Any positive reviews are probably written by management and not a real reflection of this work environment.

Thanks for your review. I'm sorry you're having a rough time. You didn't indicate your location, but I'd like to learn more about your experience. Please reach out to me directly or to your local HR Partner if you prefer. We're not a nameless, faceless corporation -- and we do care. But we need to know where specific focus is needed. Thank you.

Pros

The ER veterinarians are excellent in emergency medicine

Cons

MedVet is the epitome of greed and capitalism. They buy up clinics and make promises and then the true colors of MedVet's tactics come into full play. Be sure to conform to the stepford employee mentality cause they think all are disposable when you don't, but with a big smile, tell you differently.

I'm not sure of your location. And I'm still relatively new so I can't speak to what happened in the past. But I can share from personal experiences that in the 3 acquisitions we've done this year, we have been thoughtful about the transition. MedVet is pretty small compared to organizations that are truly corporate (VCA, Blue Pearl). We, unlike others, are 80% owned by our vets, not some private equity firm or a big corporation. When we join with a new hospital, we do a person by person analysis to make sure we are being sensitive to financial situations and truly work to learn about the other organization -- we don't just impose our operational systems, although some things (like health insurance and payroll) do have to change. I hope you shared your concerns -- otherwise, we can't dig in to some of those issues to find out what's going on and what the perceptions are.

Pros

It was a paycheck , that is only pro I can come up with

Cons

No work life balance, working all holidays, have to attend self improvement seminars not related to medicine, average pay for some, terrible pay for others. Do not value employees, keep horrible employees and Drs, because they are ‘bodies’. It is all about the $$.

Thanks for taking time to write a review. You didn't indicate your location, but please know your experience is not representative of MedVet overall. Since we are 24/7, we do need to have folks work on weekends and holidays -- I hope that was explained to you when you joined us. And I know it can be hard. In terms of "seminars" not related to medicine, I suspect you are referring to the "R Factor" training that was done in 2017. The goal of that training was to help all of our employees become better leaders. So while it may not seem directly related to medicine, it's very much related to the "Leadership" value of our organization. I do have to disagree that it's all about the money. In 2017, we increased our 401(K) match, made our health insurance better without raising employee premiums, and added a significantly better Employee Assistance Program that's available to ALL employees, even if you aren't on our benefits. We know we, like all organizations, have areas we need to fix or improve. If there are particular managers or hospital leaders that you feel behaved inappropriately, I hope you shared that feedback with your HR partner. We can't get better if you don't share your experiences. Feel free to reach out to me as well. Thanks!
