Pros

I have nothing good to say about the company.

Cons

Really bad company to work for or to rent from! There is no organization, no training, no communication, no teamwork and so much more! As a property manager for this company I have felt completely taken advantage of. While the office staff gets holidays and weekends off, property managers are expected to work basically 7 days a week every week. The pay is horrible and the workload is tremendous. The worst part is the way they treat their tenants! I feel like they do not care about problems with the properties and they are out to nickel and dime you. I have had issues with my paycheck not being correct about every other pay period. Overall I have nothing good to say about the company!

Pros

You can get away with murder if you're leasing units (that's all they care about). Upper management hardly ever checks on their buildings which means I never have to clean the building or care about its upkeep. The fewer phone calls I answer from tenants the more free time I can have to get my nails done....the tenants typically just call into the corporate line and get lost in the voice mail system and give up after a few tries. Less work for me. Awesome!

Cons

The pay is absolute crap and they'll work you just enough so they don't have to offer you health insurance. Did I mention the pay is crap? Only a complete amateur or someone with a criminal record would accept a job with Met Management. Highest employee turnover of any property management company I've ever worked at. Revolving door like no other and it will only be a matter of time before you get canned (waiting for pink slip).

Pros

If you are around the corporate office on Christmas, you might get a chocolate bar as a bonus. Letting residents know that they have been double-billed hundreds of dollars in utilities and giving them tools to fight their charges. I think the residents are the ultimate pro because I love what I do and I hope my time had some impact with some nice individuals who severely require leasee therapy due to the poor treatment they have received over the years.

Cons

Joining the revolving team of slumlords who have no concept of industry standards. Being actually lied to about your contractual agreement by the hiring portfolio manager. Watching your manager get laid off right before Christmas, and being replaced by one who is completely inept at working a copier, let alone managing a building. Being nearly assaulted by another employee because they were actually made to do their job (though corporate made him work on a sick day which is protected by SOCR) and then being talked down to by management because I reported the violent behavior. Being told by corporate to lie about how many vacants there were, lie about mold, lie about bedbugs, and not to believe the “lying tenants” and try to maintain a 96% occupancy rate when units have been stale for several months due to problems.
