I guess the biggest challenge would be being in the Flint area. Although Flint is struggling colleges and universities downtown like Mott are beginning to change Flint.

No upward movement in college setting possible - you will most likely stay at same position for duration of employment. Applying to more senior-level positions, even with experience is virtually nil once you've been hired. Mott usually only hires fresh candidates. Negotiate salary before being hired because you will not be able to negotiate afterwards. Mott will adjust for standard inflation increases but only occasionally. Security cameras are in Curtis Mott complex only but not other buildings. Parking ramp activity is not recorded even though thefts, including auto thefts have occurred - they are only monitored. IT Services will eventually fix issues related to classroom internet connectivity but it may take a week and even longer so be prepared with handouts.
