Pros

good people, great discounts, you get to be around music all day! Its a great place to network, make friends, and learn about business

Cons

Store managers are basically a sales manager and a opps manager....Music & Arts seems to always add more opps, procedures and projects that cut into time when you could be working towards your personal sales goal. You really gotta choose your battles and work a lot of hours if you wanna be successful. Probably more hours that what the salary is worth

Great place to work in the right district.

Pros

Music and Arts is a great place to work all around if you can balance good customer service with applicable, genuine sales. I can say from experience, the right district makes all the difference. The networking between professional teachers and community is a great plus, and fellow employees of all stores tend to be relaxed and enjoyable people. The discounts from vendors is also quite nice as well. Scheduling is flexible, and training is one of a kind if you can get the hang of it.

Cons

It is unfortunate that Music and Arts formulates ideas it seldom thinks through, (rushing new ideas to the market like an ADD kid) intern forcing employees to "pitch" gimmicks that they then must take the brunt for, due to it's undesirable faults..The pay is mediocre.. so if you're not a good talker then you won't survive in this biz. Make no mistake - this is SALES. Profits come from selling yourself and then the product. Growth here does not cater to the young-minded, or those not experienced in a competitive sales culture.
