Not a place to be if you're not in KC

Pros

Clear industry leader. Good group of co-workers. Opportunity to work in an industry where your products and services genuinely help people who need it.

Cons

I can't speak to the KC experience, so I will target this to anyone considering a position with the company in one of the satellite offices. Regardless of what is said, there is a clear direction to move almost all of the operation to KC. I don't see this as a problem per se, as the management team is located there now, and it makes sense from their standpoint to migrate the workforce to KC. Still, morale is generally very low outside of the KC office, and I would say that real opportunity for growth and advancement is limited. Everyone has to evaluate for themselves what is important to them in a career, but if you want to be an important cog in the Netsmart machine, you need to be in KC. Many very experienced, long-standing, and previously loyal employees have left the company in the past couple of years, and that seems to be accelerating. Also, if work-life balance is important to you (and, granted, it's not for everyone), then Netsmart is probably not for you. Expectations are generally that you are available around the clock if needed, and the stress level is very high. There is always more to do than resources to do it, so you will be stretched thin.
