Pros

- very friendly team. Managers are usually understanding and friendly. - conducive work environment. Developers get support from other teams like Infra, services, product, etc so that the main focus is development. - I feel proud to be working for the times. - compensation and bonus is as per market standards. - Management is very understanding and cares for people -upper management is approachable. - good vision for the Times products overall. - latest technology stack and freedom to experiment/choose technologies! Hack days, maker weeks etc are norm. - developers are encouraged to enhance their skill set by company sponsored educational courses.

Cons

NY Times tech division should work on improving how the brand is viewed in the tech community. Sometimes it feels that good work of the times is not recognized.

Troubled Sales Management

Pros

Clearly a great brand, career advancing name recognition

Cons

sales management (particularly in the fashion & retail categories) seem completely out of touch with industry & digital trends. A sense that sales management team has only worked in print media for decades without any real digital experience. Few-to-no respected client or agency relationships relying on account management team to do very senior heavy lifting on their behalf. Mean-spirited and highly political environment that's driven by fear of significant ad revenue losses quarter-over-quarter.
