      Used to have some of the brightest people in leadership

      Cons

      Ookla has definitely spoiled, leaving a sour taste in everyone's mouths. More and more employees are starting to smell the stink coming out of leadership. I think the new hires are also smelling it too. It's discouraging to see such a great company crumble because of new leadership's lack of trust, transparency, and backbone.

      Since the major leadership changes in June/July 2023, Ookla's once-positive work culture has drastically eroded, resulting in a disrespectful and toxic environment. The new leadership's failure to grasp the company's legacy and dismissive attitude toward employee ideas have fostered an atmosphere lacking transparency and trust. Employees who were once valued now feel marginalized and disrespected. Regrettably, the current situation raises concerns, and potential candidates should approach with caution.

      Went from best to worst

      Pros

      None now that new management has replaced founder and original team

      Cons

      Toxic environment. Cannot trust new management...full of lies and misleading. Worst place to work. New management just laid off several original Ookla members after promising no layoffs. New management is cleaning house and firing anyone who might challenge their authority. Wouldn't be surprised if there will be additional rounds of layoffs. New management does not know anything about the business and will drive it into the ground. Avoid at all costs. If you work here get out...run, don't walk.
