Pros

Paycom provides great compensation including a high base salary, lucrative commission structure, and car/phone allowance. Additionally, their training program is a good crash course in SaaS sales. The Sales training team is very knowledgeable of the product and are gifted salespeople. Young and attractive work force that has its eyes set on financial success. Being surrounded by an intelligent sales team that was goal driven. Great product and Corporate is succeeding with their high growth strategy as they swim up market.

Cons

The fear. It is readily apparent from within the first few weeks of employment that this role does not have any job security. Local sales Managers are placed under an obscene amount of pressure to hit aggressive sales quotas as the company expands. This pressure, especially when quotas are being missed, is translated directly to the team of sales reps. All of these managers were promoted from within after a few years of success. Often times this leads to a talented sales professional being in charge of a green team, but lacking the EQ to manage effectively. In some offices, the manager is more equipped than others. There are rules in place that cause you to have easy deals from your territory poached by the manager and given to more experienced reps. The work life balance is nonexistent in year one. 25+ hours of training material per week on top of full job expectations from week one. Expect to work 60 hours minimum. Most of this is comprised of completing aggressive sales tactics that ultimately tick off a lot of companies in your territory. You must hit weekly metrics in terms of number of calls, emails sent, gifts sent, meetings set. This is tracked at an upper level of management and then pressure is placed on local managers to enforce. It creates a bully-like mentality within managers and there were sessions of chewing out employees. The company culture is “we are getting rich and so will you if you sell us your soul”. Management believes this mantra to their core. They will belittle you if your values are any different. You will be made to feel as a failure and told that you will never make good money at another company if you don’t succeed at Paycom. This role had me questioning my own sense of self worth and intelligence. I was in constant fear of being fired and watched 60% of my training class leave within their first few months. I was fired swiftly so that a large deal in my territory could be given to a more senior rep in my office. It was one of the best days of my life as I was freed from an occupation that crushed my sense of self worth. Also, as a footnote, this company has zero diversity. Be aware that leadership is openly conservative behind a thin veil of fake-liberal corporatisms to keep with the status quo.

As you noted, we invest heavily in our employees and provide them with the training and tools needed to be successful. We’re proud of our employee-centric culture, and understand some people might find better fits elsewhere. We’re KPI-driven across the organization and hold leaders accountable to those standards. However, leaders are trained on how to have performance conversations in a productive and healthy manner. Lastly, our sales territories are absolutely protected. Your assessment does not match the culture we have worked hard to establish and we’d like to learn more. Please reach out to us at hrmgmt@paycomonline.com.

Pros

-Lovely gray cubes -Affordable food options -Covered Parking -Decent healthcare and benefits

Cons

WORK-LIFE. Lack of childcare options. If we have to be here ALL DAY, we should look into this more. I love that we added pet insurance before other meaningful benefits. Come on. The dress code might as well be from 1950s.

We are sorry to see that you are unhappy with your Paycom experience. We continually analyze our benefits to be competitive and provide a very generous benefit package. Our HR team is always happy to receive feedback from employees regarding what they find valuable and helpful. Many employees do value our additional benefits, like pet insurance, and utilize it. We will share your feedback with the leadership team and encourage you to speak with your supervisor or HR business partner on ways you feel your experience could be better.

Pros

This organization has exceeded my expectations in a number of ways, especially as it relates to its growth and the way it cares for its employees. The organization has clearly defined processes and procedures and is quick to update those when new technology or enhancements are introduced. Being part of a high-growth organization brings with it a number of challenges and I appreciated the opportunity that each one of those challenges bring because it allows for both personal and professional growth opportunities. Additionally, the share comp has allowed for some nice remodels on my home which has been great! Paycom is dedicated to its people and clients. It is an honor hearing stories of raving fans of our software and how it has completely shaped an organization’s culture or allowed our clients to be more strategic.

Cons

While the healthcare insurance is great for employees ($1 per pay-period), family insurance isn’t subsidized. While it certainly isn’t necessary, as a family oriented culture, it would be great to see Paycom add this benefit.
