Pros

There is a lot to be said for helping children in need

Cons

Layoffs. Terrible treatment of the clinicians who deserve so much better for all of the hard work they do serving students. Pay cuts, no raises, inconsistent workloads. It's so terrible how they are treated by this company. This is the most ridiculous leadership team I've ever seen. They are a bunch of self-promoters who do more to advance their own interests, often at the expense of the organization. So many wonderful people have been fired or are quitting. The place is falling apart. The recent doctor who no one can tolerate. The chief people officer who is more interested in attending conferences and events and building her brand than actually doing anything to do with people and culture The CEO who forced people to read and write reviews on her terrible book, a book with advice that she wrote yet never follows. The investors are getting exactly what they deserve.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts about your experience working at Presence. We value all feedback, positive and negative, as it helps us identify areas that need improvement. We genuinely strive to provide a positive work environment for all of our employees and clinicians, and we are disappointed to hear that your experience did not reflect that. Reorganization and fluctuating workloads are challenging situations for any organization - we collaborate with all partners to address changes in real time. It is disheartening to hear about the negative personal perception of our leadership team. Our leaders are committed to the success of both the organization and our employees. Pros

work from home--although I never saw my family anyways.

Cons

I wanted to work 15 hours a week, but was working 15 hours a day! I worked from home, but still never saw my family. My work doubled because the platform was so clunky & every process done for the school needed to be re-duplicated on their platform. Paperwork & data-entry was soul-sucking for employees & is highway robbery for the districts paying for this! Presence has treatment materials on their platform but they were minimally interactive so super boring in comparison to kids that are used to video games-there was no use or integration of good speech/language apps on the market. No split-screens! When conferencing with people at corporate office we used a different video-conferencing platform because the PresenceLearning one was so unhelpful! The people at PL are nice enough but did not honor what I agreed to do. PL seemed understaffed so gave me an unusually large caseload. When brought to their attention, they did nothing to remedy the situation, no one seemed knowledgeable or aware of what a reasonable caseload was. The platform required duplication of every process and there is already so much paperwork to do! It is a waste of the therapist's time & of the (under-funded) school district's money from all the extra work they created. The platform was painful & awful to use. SLPAs saw most of the students whileSLPs drowned in the worst parts of the job...Paperwork! Tons & tons of testing, reports, IEPs. It was never-ending. This is not what ASHA has in mind for the use of aides & the role of SLPs. It should be illegal!

Pros

-Team environment, coverage, help. There is always help and support, usually, if you need coverage for an IEP meeting or help with an evaluation. They guarantee hours with FTE full time equivalent, where you are paid a full 8 hour day (some are 7.5, some are 8) no matter if students are absent or not, if you have paperwork or not. They never take away or remove the hours/assignment once it is given to you, unlike other contract agencies. -Positive environment. Managers with positive, motivating attitudes. No one has ever reprimanded me for having a family emergency or needing a day off or for being a minute late. -No one ever says anything negative about your billing. You are left alone. You agree to work a certain amount, and they never make you explain yourself and never audit. Good. -No one watching to see if you make mistakes. Unlike some contract agencies. This lack of reprimanding makes staff feel motivated to work harder. -Wonderful, generous pay increase for 21-22 school year to reward clinicians for being available to work in a massive shortage situation. 5 star company for 21-22 school year! Thanks! -Never a lack of work. You can always pick up extra hours and extra assignments by volunteering to help other teams and other sites. No other contract agencies allow this type of flexibility! Wonderful team environment. You don't have to be totally solo. -I used to love our CEO. She seemed so in touch with how competitive the market is for us, but that is no longer the case for 22-23 school year.

Cons

-Weekly news letter promised positive pay changes and new benefits, but then, pay cut and no benefits! Massive pay cut for 22-23 school year. Pay cut of 15 dollars an hour and for some, ten dollars an hour, during a time when other companies are willing to pay more. This huge pay cut from PL comes during a massive workforce shortage , national worker shortages, and a time of massive inflation. CEO made a video to thank us for working during a hard time, along with the pay cut. Comes across as sarcastic and insincere, and the opposite of thanking us! Leadership clearly has no clue and is massively out of touch with reality of what we are being paid today. Leadership has tough lessons to learn and will find out -Unilateral corporate decision to cut pay without asking or consulting any of the workers -Unilateral corporate decision to change the platform, add some features that make it inefficient, slower (extra clicks) with no seeking of input from the clinicians that use the platform everyday. Maybe this costed a lot of money that ended up contributing to our pay cut. I would have preferred the platform to stay the way it was before -Due to all these, I have lost trust in the current leadership for 22-23 school year. My pay cut was so big that I feel like they don't like me anymore and I don't feel motivated to stay. 2 star company for 22-23 school year.

We appreciate your review and are grateful you have found PresenceLearning a positive and motivating work environment throughout your 8+ year tenure. Our engineering team does solicit feedback from test groups during the planning process and before platform changes are made. If you are interested in providing specific feedback on how we can make the Platform even more innovative, we'd love to explore that with you. As for the upcoming school year, for the continuity of care for students, our returning providers are prioritized to return to their assignments from the prior school year. No reductions have been made to base pay rates. In addition, there are new assignment offerings, both full-time salaried and part-time, with guaranteed hour minimums. The goal is to give you the opportunity to choose the type of work that's right for you. That said, we understand you have specific concerns about your contract for the upcoming year, and we'd love to have a conversation with you to clarify your specific options. Our goal is to put the power in our providers' hands to decide what works best for them.
