Pros

Well-established, stable company. Work culture is really good in some aspects - a lot of great people here, but I believe this also depends on the team and your direct manager. Good bonuses.

Cons

They don't like to give promotions out, but they will pile on more work and expand your scope and expect you to prove that you deserve a promotion/raise for years before actually giving you what you deserve. The RTO policy was poorly handled and very rigid to the point of being silly. Despite what they say now, it was very clearly told to us during Covid that we would have a 5 day flex policy with no plan to change that. For four years they hired people in all different locations and countries because of that so now that they want us back in office, most of us still need to zoom all day. Yes, they have the right to change their policies but it's insulting that they are acting like we misunderstood them. The way they did this made me lose trust in the company. Meanwhile, they don't provide enough meeting rooms or desks. I understand the benefits of being in the office and I do actually enjoy being there, but there are ways to be more reasonable about the policy. Goal planning is chaotic - the leadership team pick 4 or 5 "themes" that are so vague and broad and the rest of our teams have to figure out how to prioritize hundreds of projects/features that they want in a short period. Often times those projects have little to do with the 5 big themes. All the teams are very silo'd and stretched thin. Being in office has not helped that.

Thanks for sharing your perspective. Our decision to implement a hybrid work model was driven by several considerations including enhanced collaboration and communication and to provide more networking and development opportunities for employees. It was important to us that our employees felt supported and informed during the transition, which is why we provided several months' notice to make any arrangements needed in order to meet the requirement of two days in office. Throughout the pandemic, we consistently reinforced the role that our offices play in maintaining and evolving our culture. And we consistently hired individuals within commutable distance from our offices with the expectation that employees would return to the office once it was safe to do so. We did make exceptions in rare cases for hard to find talent segments. We recognize the space challenges in some of our offices, especially where we share space with our sister brands, and are actively looking for additional space in New York City for example. We appreciate your feedback on promotions and career growth opportunities. At Priceline, we are committed to recognizing and rewarding deserving employees and providing avenues for career advancement. Earlier this year, over 160 Priceliners were promoted, of whom we are very proud!

Pros

It’s a decent company to work for, the compensation while not great isn’t bad. The problems are interesting to work on.

Cons

- A lot of people have quit, putting tremendous pressure on people who are still here. I can see people getting burnt out and tired. I m sure that’s gonna cause more people to leave. - The engineers are bad - there is so much technical debt, which like any other debt accrues interest over time. It’s not that the code is bad, it’s that no one cares, people are focused purely on short term wins. - everything is broken all the time, because everyone is in a mad rush to achieve their own team goals. In an ecosystem of interdependent teams this has been horrible.

We appreciate you taking the time to submit this review, though it was disappointing to read. At Priceline, we hire technical experts to create, evolve, and maintain contemporary code that makes our platform appealing and easy to use for our customers. It is difficult to “keep the wheels on the bus as we’re building the airplane,” and sometimes we get caught in the today at the expense of tomorrow. We’d encourage you to raise these specific concerns with your leader and together create a plan that allows us to maintain the right balance between legacy and our aspirational future state.

Pros

Good if you are looking for a relaxing job

Cons

If you are innovative, there will be 100 human road blocks along your path, Sooner or later you will stop thinking ideas and just follow their rules, to keep your job, and basically just do 1+2 = 3, everyday, or sometimes 10* 15 = 150
