Pros

Opportunity to make an impact. Do not expect to be paid a lot in this job/role. It's a non-profit and year program --- you are not a direct employee of Reading Partners. Gaining an education award after completing 1700 by the end of the program year. Health care benefits. Learn a lot about the community and yourself. Great staff

Cons

Being a PC here is best for 1 year or 2 because there is little growth. You can apply for the Regional Program Coordinator role or the Volunteer rol if you want to change because the PC role will be the same system for the following year.

Pros

Compassion leaders who are finally prioritizing the quality of programming instead of quantity - now RP is focused on employee well-being, diverse tutor pool, student's maximal growth, school relationships, and family outreach. It's about community.

Cons

Many systems need to be reworked and therefore many systems are not in place which can lead to inconsistencies, but if you like build systems and thinking if better ways of doing things, than you will enjoy these next few years

Pros

You can work to make a difference in the lives of young students. As a manager, you are able to also work in helping young professionals or career changers gain skill to help them with the next phase of their lives. You also get to make connections and build relationships with a variety of people from the community.

Cons

Because the program uses Americorps members each year you are training new people to implement the program. Also, because you are recruiting community members, you are limited in the work you do base on the communities response the the call to action.
