      Pros

      Reading Partners has an incredible mission and is a great work environment. They offer plenty of trainings and opportunities to take on extra responsibilities that can help you grow in your career.

      Cons

      The AmeriCorps salary is incredibly low and difficult to live off of. However, the organization is very upfront about it and provides you with helpful resources that can aid you during your commitment. Oftentimes, full time staff can be rude and ungrateful in addressing AmeriCorps members. It's demeaning and frustrating. Lighten up and be respectful.

      Program is well organized; mission statement is excellent and the student contact is a major upside if you like working on site and with students directly.

      Cons

      Lots of management transition. Upper level management seems to value quantity over quality and there is little to no support on site.

      No respect for AmeriCorps members Low pay for long hours and hard work Disorganized and sloppy with communications and paperwork Questionable training sessions No room for advancement Questionable methods for tracking student progress
