As an Americorps member, you do not have "PTO" and cannot take many days off without losing out on reaching your hours. There is high turnover in management which negatively affected our work. You will also be apart from your team when working on a campus, meaning you must get comfortable being alone. Lack of diversity among staff in some regions, program is very data driven which can sometimes eclipse the most meaningful part of the program which is adult-student relationships. AmeriCorps members are treated differently than full-time staff (which is understandable), but sometimes this feels like a disconnect between the office-based program staff and the on-the-ground operations.
