Pros

Impactful, diverse, and progressive company to work for. I thoroughly appreciate my experience as it has provided a myriad of leadership, professional, and personal development opportunities. The support is fantastic.

Cons

Turnover of management this year.

Pros

The number one is the opportunity to help struggling students achieve success. There is also the chance for autonomy- you must hold yourself accountable and have the self-starter within you to really excel, since you will be alone at your campus most of the time.

Cons

As an Americorps member, you do not have "PTO" and cannot take many days off without losing out on reaching your hours. There is high turnover in management which negatively affected our work. You will also be apart from your team when working on a campus, meaning you must get comfortable being alone. There really isn't a good way to go from a Site Coordinator with Americorps to any other position directly with RP. You will be broke, but you know that signing up for Americorps...

Pros

Mission-driven individuals at a high-performing, data-driven, high-impact non-profit. Great training if you are looking to get your feet wet in the education field. You will learn a lot.

Cons

Lack of diversity among staff in some regions, program is very data driven which can sometimes eclipse the most meaningful part of the program which is adult-student relationships. AmeriCorps members are treated differently than full-time staff (which is understandable), but sometimes this feels like a disconnect between the office-based program staff and the on-the-ground operations.
