Extreme workload with very little pay incentive. Pay ranges are low comparatively, and annual raises are non existent. Very unprofessional management. Root makes sure you know that you are replaceable.

I began working for this company about a year ago and have been pretty dissatisfied from the start. From the beginning it's been clear that they were unprepared to operate on the level they are attempting to. Their HR staff has no idea what they're doing, their managers have no people skills and overcompensate by micromanaging their staffs every minute, even watching the amount of time they spend on teams or slack. They frequently change the metrics by which your productivity is judged, and then will discipline you for not meeting them immediately. The position is woefully underpaid compared to the market standard. Management micromanages you to the last minute because they don't trust the abilities of their employees. I was let you go without real reason, without any notice, and without any attempt at professional development. This was after colleagues of mine disappeared for what I suspect were the same reasons and were not replaced, leaving the remaining employees to attempt to cover their workload. HR made frequent mistakes and attempted to discipline me for them. HR and management have very little direct communication - the left hand typically does not know what the right hand is doing. Overall, everyone involved at this company is just very inexperienced. Root insurance is an ambitious attempt at a new company that will never really get off the ground until they learn how to manage basic operations. Good riddance to it. To all potential new hires: if you're thinking of joining this start up, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME.
