Horrible and Toxic Recruiting Operations

Pros

Remote working was fine but SF based employees weren't mindful of time zones. Quarterly bonus and stock pay outs were good.

Cons

Some of the worst people I have ever encountered in my career. Rude, aggressive, ill informed, and disrespectful. I would never recommend anyone work on this recruiting team with the current leadership they have in place. It's a bad Amazon knock-off. The morale on the team was incredibly low due to unprofessional and demoralizing leadership. I saw some really awful behaviors that were ignored when complaints were submitted against the same people time and again. High turnover. Toxic leadership with no direction who do not promote a healthy work environment. The Recruiting Operations Director is abusive, manipulative and unfit for a leadership role. She will belittle you, lie to you and about you, and create unprofessional and demeaning narratives regarding your work and your output when she fails to provide structure, strategy or goals. There is no communication, or alignment on objectives, she only barks orders with no insight, information or resources provided in order for you to be set up for success. Constantly changing direction and forgetting demands she makes that conflict with previous demands, causing you to have to rework strategy decks that no one looks at. You will be forced to participate in monthly overview sessions to present your work in a 2 minute recap while everyone takes turns bashing you and berating you with questions in a very public setting. Management is condescending and are quick to throw you under the bus when they fail as managers. Middle managers are inexperienced and lack the proper training to lead people and are often first time managers who learn bad behaviors from the ROPs Director. Conversations are just littered with 'tech bro' speak that do not apply to recruiting. It's laughable how try-hard some can be. There is no support or true leadership here. Toxic behavior is supported and rewarded. Good people consistently leave this team all for the same reasons. This was the most dehumanizing job I've ever worked in during my career and I truly hope people read these reviews that all say the same thing. Avoid this team and these people unless you are about to be homeless. -Jobs are also being outsourced for all areas of the company so beware....just look at the job board. -Benefits were consistently being cut while I was there after their record breaking ARR announcements and celebrations. Truly poor form and gross.

Pros

Perks that other silicon valley startups also provide like good snacks, free food, commuting benefits and decent health insurance Sanjit is an inspiring and innovative leader

Cons

Too many cons: Company doesn't care about career growth for employees that work hard and go above and beyond Teams like Sales Ops need better leaders - new leadership is MIA. They literally slow down cross functional teams that work with them People Team is even worse - they're so clueless and get defensive for every feedback they receive. People partners work against the employees and don't help with career development Poor work-life balance Low compensation Terrible middle management High attrition rate Low employee morale Existing employees are not valued and the company thinks they can easily replace folks that leave. New managers that are hired are often shooting in the dark I left for a much better startup for a leadership position where my contributions are valued and mental health is prioritized. Samsara would have never realized my leadership potential even if I had stayed there for 5 more years.

Pros

The dogs were nice before shelter in place. The Friday boba and several great people I’ve met here.

Cons

The cons are innumerable. They use extreme micromanagement in sales and in other departments it is also used. Samsara is by far the worst in sales. Many truly talented people have left the company pretty quickly after starting and I can see why. This is it dead end job in all ways you look at it and you can see several managers in commercial just flailing and praying for a promotion to move to mid-market and it never happens. Micromanagement in mid-market is not quite as bad as commercial but it is still there and you don’t feel like you’re valued. Sales reps are extremely disposable no matter what segment you working even if it’s enterprise. Pressure cooker environment. If you have a bad month after being very consistent you are stressed to no end. Firing without a consistent practices is super common. If you’re in SF, SJ, Atlanta, or the UK it still is a TERRIBLE experience where middle and upper management people are immature and inexperienced. SF is the hub of you being an account executive and a guinea pig for first time managers promoted from AE and being led by other first time higher ups. It’s a NIGHTMARE to come in and cold call daily and pressure folks to buy this fleet solution. Ever had your calls counted daily? This is like being an ADR on steroids. Ever been told to “do more” constantly even after hitting over 115% of quota for several months and quarters. This place is horrible to work at and don’t expect your sales skills to grow because they discount like flea markets here and Keeptruckin’ keeps kicking our butt because enablement stinks too. Discount heavy, transaction heavy, trial sell. Bro culture all the way and all day.
