Pros

The people - You will get to work with some of the smartest, kindest, most passionate, dedicated, hard-working, brilliant people on the planet. The work - Never a dull moment, and no two days were ever the same. The SH/FT team works with some amazing organizations, delivering exceptional results, and there are some really exciting opportunities coming down the pipe that everyone will play a role in supporting. I am honoured to have been involved in the work that I was, and to have done it alongside such incredible humans. I am eternally grateful for all the lessons learned (yes, even the hard ones), the people who supported my growth, and to those that said my name in rooms full of opportunities.

Cons

The disconnect between most management and employee sentiment is alarming, and unfortunately that gap appears to be widening. The workload is unachievable (despite best efforts of working evenings and weekends to try to stay on top of the chaos). I’m not one to point fingers, but it’s clearly a result of the 6 (or is it 7 now?) rounds of layoffs that have failed to ever include a realistic strategy for rebalancing the workload. SH/FT loves to reorganize and restructure the workforce, but remains incapable of rebalancing the workload itself. Unfortunately, this leads to shortcuts being taken, balls being dropped, zero accountability, and the worst result of all - putting your cherished client and employee relationships at risk. Surely there is a better way. Blaming the economy is not a strategy. Giving people dry promotions without proper training or compensation is not a strategy either.

Pros

The people. Minus Management. You’ll discover just how much abuse, neglect, and gaslighting a person can take before they break. A real crash course in surviving with zero support.

Cons

This company loves to brand itself as progressive and “people-first,” but the reality is the exact opposite. The culture is toxic, the leadership is corrupt, and the empathy is non-existent. If you dare to speak up, ask for help, or admit you’re overwhelmed — you’re marked. Leadership doesn’t lift you up, they watch you drown, then blame you for getting wet. Messages go unanswered. Red flags are ignored. The second you’re no longer easy or convenient, you’re quietly cut out, labeled incompetent, and discarded — no matter how much revenue you’ve brought in or how flawlessly you’ve run top-tier accounts. They’ll gaslight you with HR jargon while pretending they value “transparency,” all while burying the truth behind closed-door meetings and cowardly reorgs. It’s a revolving door of talent because no one with self-respect sticks around. Ask yourself: why has this company shrunk to a shell of what it was in just a few years? How many reorgs, “transitions,” or “realignments” does it take before you admit leadership is the problem? You burned an incredible company to the ground — and now you’re standing in the ashes pretending it’s still thriving. It’s not. It’s bleeding out.

Shift Paradigm Response

I’m responding personally because these allegations don’t reflect the company I know we are or strive to be. When someone feels this unheard and unsupported, we’ve clearly failed them individually. No employee should feel abandoned or that speaking up puts them at risk. I take personal responsibility when our leadership falls short. If you’re a current or former employee with similar experiences, please reach out to me directly at lizr@shiftparadigm.com. We’re not perfect, but we’re committed to doing better. The passion in this review, while painful to read, shows someone who once cared deeply about this company. That matters and I thank you for taking the time to share with us

Pros

The people: Despite the challenges, I had the opportunity to work with some amazing people. I developed lifelong friendships with many of my colleagues.

Cons

Poor Communication: Frequent restructures with minimal explanation (at least 5 restructures in the 4 years I was here...) Neglected Culture: Liz's first address to the company when she became CEO "This is a people company, and the people come first", She did exactly ZERO team-building efforts or incentives for growth and almost immediately started laying people off. Ineffective Leadership and Lack of Accountability: The CEO’s promises of prioritizing employees were not reflected in her actions. Instead, there were continuous cutbacks, the hiring of her own circle of former colleagues, and a complete lack of accountability for the company’s negative direction. Rather than taking responsibility, Liz frequently blamed the company’s struggles on macroeconomic factors. Directionless Leadership: SH/FT used to be a successful email marketing agency, and somehow made a transition to a confused marketing consultancy? Consistent gap between sales and service experts, I truly don't think the sales team knows what the service experts actually do, and the constant loss and lack of new business shows. Below-Market Salaries: Compensation often 20% below industry standards, good luck getting a decent title too, SH/FT learned that good titles means poached talent. Morale at Rock Bottom: Did someone say pizza party? No. even pizza parties aren't offered here... Moral couldn't be lower, and I don't think there's a way it can be saved. Short-sighted Decisions: Leadership’s focus on potential new accounts at the expense of nurturing existing ones meant the loss of several key accounts. This company used to have multiple 7+ figure retainers, and I doubt any are left at this point.
