Pros

Good pay Goodt stock benefits Unlimited PTO Nice office in downton boston

Cons

Work is extremely mundane and involves working with giant gross java codebases where the only people that understand it are the ones that made it in the beginning. Absolutely no women engineers represented on any of the teams that I worked with, just a boys club with no diversity of ideas or experience. They are often referred to as a "mini-amazon" because you will have no work-life balance and will be ground into the ground for sake of productivity.

Pros

I have worked at a few different SaaS companies and after a while you get a sense of which company's products fall into the category as a "nice to have" versus a "need to have". During business downturns or unforeseen circumstances such as Covid-19 a nice to have product is going to always be on the chopping block in terms of a product not being renewed. As a customer success manager at Smartsheet my job is to focus on customer retention. Our customers use Smartsheet to manage mission critical work and processes. Therefore it is not a simple decision to rip and replace Smartsheet as a tool because many end users "need" it to continue managing their key business priorities. It is rewarding and exciting to work at a company with innovation where the product is constantly evolving to meet the needs of our customers. Even in a competitive space of collaborative work management Smartsheet has managed to carve out a lane for itself to integrate with other parts of a company's tech-stack and not necessarily cannibalize each other.

Cons

Currently the PTO policy starts at 15 days versus many other similar companies with an unlimited PTO policy. Most other benefits are competitive but this is the only one that is a con. **I will note that our HR team sent out a survey asking us what changes would want to be made to our benefits and a few days ago we received an update letting us know the areas that are being explored for 2022 and updating the PTO policy was one of the areas. I definitely wouldn't let this con stop you from considering joining Smartsheet.

Pros

Customers like the products a lot

Cons

Unbelievable arrogance from C player sales management . Gimmicky sales plays , silly sports analogies and buzzwords everyone is expected to use in cadences, small deals, expectation that very senior execs at fortune companies really care about a productivity tool they are spending less than 100k on, close plans for 20k deals, , gosh there’s plenty more. Senior reps roll this place will drive you nuts . Go do you research on LI and you will see people that came and left quickly. Also- how many “great place “ reviews do you see from Enterprise Sales ? I don’t see any. This is by far the worst environment I’ve ever worked in.

Thanks for sharing this feedback. I’m sorry to hear this has been your experience. We certainly strive for, and want, all team members to have a positive experience with sales leadership and enablement in order to be successful in their role. I can confidently say that we have a strong sales enablement team in place to ensure team members are selling enterprise-level deals. If that’s not taking place, reps can reach out to their manager or HR Business Partner to identify opportunities to achieve impact. Related to inclusivity, we’re on a journey and are invested in ensuring our practices, culture, and language we use are inclusive for all. Again, employees are encouraged to reach out to their manager or HR Business Partner if they’d like to discuss specific issues. —Mike Arntz, CRO & SVP WW Field Operations
