Pros

Smithbucklin is growing and dedicated towards that growth Positive work being put toward improving culture Office improvements have made positive impact on employees (DCHQ is high quality). Smithbucklin offers the employees a chance to be employee owners. It's a great place to start your career, learn and grow in the business roles.

Cons

No feedback mechanism for senior leaders - this is desperately needed. Team members should be able to provide feedback about Sr. Leaders and have it taken seriously. I've noticed that the rules aren't applied equitably across the organization. There is little to no accountability at the top of the organization. I've witnessed Sr. Leaders arguing on calls with direct reports on the phone. This makes for a very uncomfortable work setting. Corporate functions need a developed career path. The health and welfare benefits are entirely too expensive

Thank for taking the time to provide feedback. We take all reviews seriously because it helps us evaluate and improve (or continue) elements of our employee experience. We survey employees multiple times a year and take action based on feedback, and encourage you to share this feedback in an upcoming employee survey. We love hearing you value our company's dedication to growth and our office improvements!

Pros

Great opportunity to work with a lot of different clients and learn a lot of valuable skills. Coworkers were also all amazing. It was a good first job, but that’s about it.

Cons

Everyone is overworked. People are constantly leaving and they take a long time to replace. Management kept making promises and would never follow through. Salary was also embarrassingly low. CEO came to the DC office a decent amount but not once made an attempt to get to know employees. There is a big disconnect between staff and executive management.

Thank you for sharing your experience at Smithbucklin. We are currently undergoing an operations transformation and we hope this will address some of the inefficiencies identified through our employee feedback. We encourage any employee with feedback to engage in an open discussion with their reviewing supervisor, HR business partner, or a senior executive to identify solutions or changes, including those employees who are leaving the company to pursue a new opportunity.

Pros

Lots of autonomy to manage your projects are you see fit Good flexibility, but it's contingent upon your boss and not applied consistently Wellness week - we all have off the last week of December without using PTO Ability for associates to get prompted rapidly and increase responsibilities

Cons

Sink or swim environment with limited back-up/training/support available Constant over-scoping: you are always expected to take on additional work and responsibilities. You're expected to be a "team player" and suck it up and just make it work without a reality check about what's reasonable. Expectation to regularly be available on nights and weekends. You never really get to escape your job.
