Pros

I feel it's very easy to get hired if you're a customer service-focused applicant. Sonic prides itself on having better customer service than its much larger competitive ISPs. Schedule flexibility is definitely a plus, as well as full training for whatever position you take that is entry level--if it's not and you're qualified, there is still some training to supplement.

Cons

A lot of people say this but the pay is not great. I believe that in our area its hard to have a comparison, but based on industry standards, the pay is $5+/hour less than other companies. They also say there's a lot of room for growth but honestly there's not. They prioritize seniority over qualifications and hard work for internal applicants.

Pros

Very friendly environment! Friendly people! Plenty of fringe benefits such as pizza Fridays, arcade games, pinball and the company parties.

Cons

The biggest is the pay compared to the work. The national avg pay for tech support is just over 17/hr. The avg in the bay area is around 19. Sonic pays 14 hr which is below the national avg. Considering we are located in an area that has the highest cost of living it is hard to believe the pay is below the national average for tech support. It's sad when after 60 days employees flipping burgers at in n out will be making more than a sonic tech support agent. •Also there are simply not enough workers on most days. This may have to do with the pay but it makes the job even more stressful when you to calm down frustrated customers because of long hold time due to being understaffed. •Although we do not get paid as well as tech support agents nationally we are expected to not only do our job, but also fill in for bIlling and sales bother during the day and after those departments are off. •Lack of feedback from immediate supervisors. I have had trainers check in and ask how things are going but have yet to hear anything from immediate supervisor.

Pros

Flexible schedule, nice coworkers, holiday parties, dogs. If you're fresh out of school and don't have any real bills yet, Sonic.net is a great place to learn.

Cons

Terrible pay, insulting raises. There are very few promotions, and they're based on the who you know instead of how you perform. The number of employees has tripled in the last 4 years, and management only has time to put out the biggest fires. The company takes advantage of the poor job market by keeping it's wages borderline unlivable. 401k is nice, but that doesn't matter much when you can barely afford the cheapest rent in the same town as your job. Dane is aggressively anti union. Years ago, he found out that some employees were thinking of starting a union, and he fired them all. Sonic is an at will employer, so they aren't bound by standard labor laws. I would recommend Sonic as a provider, but not as an employer.
