Pros

At my particular store, i had been there so long that i was familiar with all the various processes and etc. The flexible schedule and freedom allowed me to pursue other goals like school, gym and side hustles with out major conflict.

Cons

Corporate management doesn't appreciate a good employee when they see one, as a store manager, when I notice an employee is valuable i always show my appreciation and give them the benefit of the doubt, but as you can see from my title, I was fired after an altercation with a customer who assaulted me because the company took the customer's side. I was completely blindsided and shocked when they made their decision. What shocked me even more was the amount of support i recieved from employees and customers in the situation, and the company still made their decision final.

Pros

Love you, Della! you're still one of my favorite managers I've ever worked under. It is a great job for students and those who want managerial roles Your teammates and managers will make or break your experience. I worked at a top store in the area and a store that had to close. The Bethesda store was my favorite! management is always being squeezed to do more for less but most of my teams and managers were helpful and resourceful and worked together to meet goals. The other stores had younger crews that didn't care as much.

Cons

The insurance and tech service was garbage they charged too much, promised too much they couldn't deliver. They expected us to just sell sell and sell to the detriment of our customers and our ability to retain them. They are losing money in a lot of departments except for print and copy so the rest have to make it up by selling junk insurance and warranties. I luckily had tech experience so I found myself doing a lot of the fixing.

Pros

Really none, The organization does not care about you.

Cons

Quid pro quo is common and Human Resources does not care. Several employees were written up for being minutes late meanwhile the GM's favorite was allowed to come hours late without any consequences. GM reported for harassing young women, no consequences. Previous DM fired for trying to suppress a similar situation. No one learned from that and the behavior continues. GM makes fake schedule where they never close or work weekends. DM is aware and does not correct the behavior. The regional manager was trying to fix this at one time making random calls to stores to see if the GM was there but when the DM is allowing it how can you get around it. Focus is on selling protection plans and not operating margin. Expect to see stores closing by the end of the year.
