Pros

Straight North takes pride in taking care of their employees and clients. In my personal role in sales, they have given me the tools and ongoing training to be successful at growing the company. There is no micromanagement due to the fact that they hire only "A" people that know how to succeed on their own. This is truly a company that gives you the freedom to have a self-supporting role and will meet your any request to help get the deal done. As a whole, Straight North is a very process driven company with a proven task management system that only adds to their client retention rate of over 96%. They support their employees many ways including things like having an open door policy, ongoing professional training, generous compensation and healthcare plans, free snack bar and beverage fridge, and giveaways/contests to name a few perks. This is a fast growing company that is considered one of the leaders in a fast growing industry and I would recommend jumping at the opportunity to be a part of this team.

Cons

I have no cons for the company but one for the industry. This is a very competitive industry that has been somewhat tainted by internet marketing firms that "cheat" the system to achieve false results for their clients. This has created distrust within the industry and makes it hard in the sales process to overcome this sort of objection. Fortunately, Straight North has had an honest, proven track record of success for many years that helps transcend any notions of unethical practices.

Pros

Management allows you to pursue new responsibilities. Office environment can be fun (used to be more fun I hear). Most of the top level management are great people (except for one maybe).

Cons

Management's primary (really only) concern volume, and quality of work (and the variety of clients) is what really suffers. All work (content, web, client acquisition etc...) is very formulaic so don't work here if you expect to be stretched. I understand it from a business perspective... but it's not what's best for the clients, and it's certainly not what's best for the employees, which is a shame - I've heard things used to be pretty different.

I appreciate your comments. It sounds like you enjoyed our office environment, the people you worked with, and the skills you learned here. However, it sounds like you also experienced a lot of change in your job role attributed to the rollout of our new service and delivery process improvements. Now that we have worked our way through the majority of these improvements, Straight North is a very different company. Today, we have refined processes in place that ensure the delivery of high-level and consistent quality services to all our clients. While our delivery method does follow a rigorous process (like any good business), our strategies for Internet marketing campaigns remain 100% custom per client and are supervised by our dedicated, expert Campaign Managers. The large majority of our clients experience game-changing results in terms of sales leads and/or e-commerce revenue generated from their Internet marketing campaigns. We will continue to strive for improvements, but we are very proud of where are today, and where Straight North is headed. Thank you for the time you chose to spend with us here at Straight North. I truly wish you all the best with your future endeavors, and I am always pleased to provide references for our former team members. If there is any way I can help you in the pursuit of your career goals, please contact me directly for assistance. Sincerely, Kevin C. Duffy President, Chief Creative Officer Straight North

Pros

Straight North has been an amazing place to work at for the 5+ years that I've been a part of the company. The management team here is truly dedicated to making the company a great place to work and a place where you will be rewarded for working hard. They trust you to do your job and do it well - without any micro-management. Aside from the management team, the rest of the employees here are all top-notch. They've done a solid job of assembling a team of people who are all experts in their field and couldn't be nicer to work with. We often have lunch catered into the office and there is a large variety of free food and drinks available to everyone in the office on a daily basis. That really is nice as previous companies I've worked for did nothing like that. Lastly, Straight North is dedicated to the constant improvement and continued education of its employees. Conferences and other forms of ongoing education are often sponsored by the company and employees are regularly able to attend free of charge. We also often do monthly presentations where dinner is catered to the office and employees present cool stuff they've been working on. This helps everyone in the company become smarter and more integrated with everything going on around the office.

Cons

Nothing to list at the moment.
