Pros

- I joined Studypoint when I first began tutoring and have worked for several tutoring agencies (as well as independently) since. Studypoint was by far the lowest-paying and least-organized agency, so it gave me the ability to practice getting my tutoring skills up to snuff in a low-stakes environment before moving on to an actual career

Cons

- From the back end, everything about this company screamed cheap and that they would do anything they could to maximize profits rather than invest in their tutors and treat them like the educated professionals they are. To me this also indicated that they were not truly dedicated to their students' education and prioritize profits above all else - Payment of $20/hr is less than half of what I earned at other agencies - No compensation for prep time or travel. I was once asked to go far outside my tutoring zone for a student, which I said I would be willing to do if Studypoint paid for the Uber. They wouldn't do it. Like I said, cheap. - All "training" is done online through some video modules, which I didn't even finish watching because I found them so worthless. There is no follow-up training or ongoing professional development - You will literally never meet a single person in management at this company. It's all done online. If you have questions or need to trouble-shoot, you do it by posting in their private facebook group. - I thought the teaching materials were poorly-written and ineffective. I felt badly having to use them to tutor students, since I knew there are much better materials out there that would have been way more helpful. Actually, I felt badly all around that parents were paying so much for such a cheap service.

StudyPoint Response

Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear your experience with the organization was not better. As a mission-driven organization, our students' success is paramount, and we recognize that our tutors are a huge part of that. That's why we provide extensive training, comprehensive materials, and a veteran tutor mentor and program manager to provide ongoing support and training. That's also why we have a guarantee with our SAT and ACT programs. We want StudyPoint to be a great experience for our students and our tutors. I will share your feedback with our staff so we can take it into consideration for future changes. Best, Greg President & Co-Founder
