Pros

I like the freedom to work with as many clients as I would like. The instructional books and resources tutors are given are such a huge asset. You feel like you're fully prepared to teach your area. My manager is wonderful and has been extremely supportive. I've met some wonderful families and kids through this program!

Cons

I think the pay is somewhat lacking. I'm a full-time teacher, and I normally charge 25 an hour to tutor my students (7th grade). I receive 19 an hour to teach ACT through StudyPoint. Although I understand they're finding my clients, and providing materials, I still feel a little short changed.

Thanks for your thoughts. I agree that our materials are top notch as are our tutor managers. We do try to be competitive with our pay rates, but please let us know if you find other organizations of a similar caliber that pay more. Best, Greg President & Co-Founder

Nice people, poor work environment, poor management.

Pros

StudyPoint was full of some of the nicest, kindest people I've ever met. The CEOs genuinely try to hire people who they will fit the culture, and I loved all of my coworkers. They try their best to create a positive work environment, even if their priorities are not aligned well.

Cons

Office morale was abysmal; the expectations placed on you are often difficult to meet, and you're constantly made to feel like you'll be fired at any instant if you don't meet their (sometimes arbitrary and poorly justified) targets. Burnout is extremely common due to these targets and the very very (very) high turnover at the company. Messaging and expectations are often inconsistent as well, and managers need more professional training on how to manage. Moreover, the pay is really atrocious in comparison to that at similarly sized companies, particularly for the amount of time you put in. StudyPoint managers like to portray work as flexible, but that's really only the case if you work from home. Office culture is hit or miss.

I'm very sorry your experience with us was so mixed. I definitely agree we have great, kind people, and all of us do our best. We certainly are not right for everyone, but the many great people who have been with us for 5, 7, and even 10 years are testament to the success of finding the right fit. We will keep on working hard to be our best. I wish you the very best in your next professional phase. Take care, Greg President & Co-Founder

Pros

I've worked at StudyPoint for more than ten years now, both as a full-time employee and as a tutor. In my time with the organization, I've had the opportunity to develop my professional skills and pursue projects and positions that are of particular interest to me. I truly appreciate the trust management placed in me and the opportunities I've had to challenge myself and grow. My colleagues are a pretty amazing group of people. They genuinely care about our mission and work hard to ensure that we're providing our tutors and students with the best possible experiences. I also appreciate the flexibility I have to work from home and to work adjusted hours when need be.

Cons

Because we push ourselves to grow, innovate, and make our products/services even better (which is a good thing), the rate of change and the short time frames we sometimes have to implement changes can be daunting. Work/Life balance can sometimes be a challenge, but the flexibility I have definitely helps with that.
