Pros

I appreciate the ability to set your own schedule and the level of independence generally. Good training materials. Friendly, supportive and very accessible managers.

Cons

I find the pay is low for the amount of prep and travel time (and mileage) that is involved. I have limited the distance I am willing to travel, but the trade-off is that I am assigned fewer students. If I were wanting to work more hours, the uncompensated travel would be a real problem.

We appreciate you being part of the team. April (when you posted this note) is a very slow time for all tutoring programs in terms of new student enrollment, but keep with us over the summer!! Best, Greg President & Co-Founder

Pros

The job has flexible hours, good pay and it's not too difficult. You can basically make your schedule as long as you don't mind working part-time. I think it's an ideal job for a student.

Cons

The main con is that it is nearly impossible to make a full-time job of it due to the fact that you will have to work almost exclusively nights and weekends, so you can't expect more than about 20 hours/wk from a tutor job with this company. Also expect to pay for your own gas and not to be compensated for the many hours you will likely be driving as you tutor at students' houses. If you go in knowing that this is what will happen then you'll be fine because it's really a good job for what it is. You get a lot of support from the company and if you are a good tutor you will mostly get a lot of encouragement - most of the families are very appreciative.

Thanks for being part of our tutor team for 4 years!! I agree that this is a fantastic part-time job, but infrequently can it be a full-time job because of how seasonal the tutoring calendar is. Best, Greg President & Co-Founder
