Tutoring made easy!

Pros

StudyPoint streamlines the searching for client and assessment process for tutors. All of the employees I have interacted with have been very friendly and helpful along the way.

Cons

As others have mentioned, you can be paid more for similar work with other companies or searching for clients on your own. However, for the level of commitment I am able to devote to tutoring outside my full time job I am more than happy with the decrease in wages for the flexible work environment, great constructive feedback I receive from my program manager, and ease of assessment tools and materials!

Your thoughts are much appreciated. I think you hit the nail on the head in terms of the value proposition we bring to our tutoring team. Keep up the great work! Best, Greg President & Co-Founder

Horrible Tutoring Company

Business Outlook

Pros

None to my knowledge. The whole interview/training process was a huge waste of time.

Cons

* You can earn much more with other companies/freelancing. The pay is not competitive. * The training program is poorly organized. You have to watch videos that are very out of date and perform various exercises. They only pay you minimum wage for upto 5 hours of training, but it takes much longer. * It's been 3 months and I haven't got a single student to tutor. My references/resume is great for tutoring, so I have no idea what the issue is. * My point of contact takes forever to reply, so even after reaching out about this issue I haven't received a response.

I am so sorry your experience with us has not been a good one. Over the past 17 years we have taken pride in making this a great place to work as a tutor. If you would let me know what city you work in, I can take more specific action to improve. You can reach me at g.zumas@studypoint.com. Thank you, Greg President & Co-Founder

A Solid 3.5

Pros

StudyPoint is awesome at giving me students when I want them, which is a huge plus (because I hate marketing!). I LOVE being able to make my own schedule and define my own work radius. I enjoy the freedom I have as a tutor--my manager doesn't hover, so I have the space to tailor my work with families to meet their individual needs.

Cons

Tutors are not compensated fairly--we make a small percentage of the money families pay for our services. We are expected to travel up to 30 minutes one way for lessons, and we are not compensated for gas mileage or tolls. For a 1.5 hour lesson, we spend almost as much time driving as we do tutoring, but we aren't paid for it. Also, I think it's important to develop strong connections with my students' parents, which requires extra emails and phone conversations. We are not paid for those communications either. Finally, I have had to apologize to families more than a few times for poor communication on behalf the StudyPoint team.
