Great to Work For

Pros

Study Point is very flexible with their employees. You get to set your own schedule and tutor when and where it's convenient for you. The program is easy to learn and constantly improving and you have the satisfaction of seeing your students' scores improve.

Cons

May not pay as well as some of their competitors but the flexibility in your time as well as your ability to work one-on-one with students instead of an entire class at once more than makes up for this.

Solid, but needs Improvement

Pros

Overall, StudyPoint is a company that is committed to becoming better. Since I started working with them in 2013, they have made several improvements that benefit clients and staff. In the almost 3 years that I have worked at Studypoint, they have made direct deposit available to all tutors, have provided continual trainings, and have re-vamped and updated program materials. They have also raised the bar on expectations of tutors, in order to provide a better product to students and families. Generally, I think the following is true of the company: -Great program managers -Good support staff -Solid trainings

Cons

There are a few things that make working at StudyPoint a bit challenging: -You are not able to screen or veto prospective students. I understand the challenges, since part of the sale is the specific tutor, but there are sometimes outstanding issues or last minute life changes that affect one's ability to serve a student well -Lack of compensation for mileage and time in a car. While we can set up our radius where we are willing to tutor, traffic, fluctuating gas prices, etc. make this a huge drain on profits. -Pay is not commensurate with how much StudyPoint charges and with how much work a tutor has to do. I think this is most true for academic tutoring, where the tutor has to lesson prep, print materials, buy books, etc. without compensation.

Flexible hours and great support!

Pros

I am a tutor with PrepNow (the online division). The program managers and enrollment directors have always been very supportive and eager to accommodate my schedule, and I have never been short of tutoring assignments. When I want to decrease my tutoring hours, I just request fewer students. This has been a wonderful job where I can work as many hours as I want. The raises are very fair and I feel rewarded for working hard.

Cons

Sometimes you have to communicate with families outside of tutoring hours, but I don't have to commute or "take work home with me," so I think this is fair.
