Pros

Great company benefits - (company pension, Childcare Vouchers, Cycle to Work, and a very good medical scheme) Inclusive culture - Partners, consultants, and Business Services team all work very closely together Great new office in Farringdon Induction is second to none - great way of meeting the whole firm in a short space of time Away weekend in May every year

Cons

As is the case with all Consulting firms, most of the staff are based off site so sometimes you can go long periods without seeing some consultants. This is balanced though by having a several opportunities to socialise should your calendar permit! (monthlies, new joiner lunches, DG's, and the Away Weekend).

Pros

I've worked at The Berkeley Partnership for 18 months now, after a career at two other much larger organisations. There a re a lot of positives but the key ones for me are: - Fantastic opportunities to work on really meaningful, impactful projects for clients - Great exposure to senior leadership at clients - Variety of work, no being pigeonholed as 'just a big SAP implementation person' - although you might get to do that as well, there are opportunities to do strategy, operating model design, HR transformations, anything at all as long as it drives real value to the heart of the client's business - Freedom to craft solutions and work independently whilst being uniquely supported by the partner group - Access to the wealth of experience from other consultants and partners in the organisation, people really do help each other out here - Fantastic culture - it's hard to get people to believe just how much people here actually like each other and enjoy getting together for both learning opportunities, knowledge sharing and social events - An open, honest and inclusive leadership - the partners are genuinely interested in the consultants views on the firm, our strategy and how we operate - Our size and structure means that people actually know you as a person, understand your personal circumstances and are respectful of how you work

Cons

- Our flat structure means that there is not much opportunity for mentoring within the firm, although that doesn't mean that you can't find opportunities to do so at your clients - No performance related bonus. Personally for me this is not an issue, because our pay is competitive and I prefer the reliability of a predictable salary only structure, I appreciate though that bonuses are the norm for many people at big consulting firms - Small teams - again I like working independently and with only a few other Berkeley consultants as it gives me an opportunity to integrate more easily with the client, but it can be daunting if you are used to being part of a larger presence at a client

Pros

I joined Berkeley after working for a large global consulting firm for many years. Berkeley is different because you are genuinely the architect of your own growth and development. All of my colleagues are bright, interesting people who enjoy collaborating and there is so much to learn from each other. The opportunity to work across industries and disciplines is an important distinction from the big companies, where you tend to get stuck in a particular part of the organisation (this was a frustration for me as I wanted to do more strategy work). We work hard and play hard at Berkeley, but in a positive way - there is an active cycling group and regular team events like the recent Three Peaks Challenge and Tough Mudder event. Berkeley also gives the opportunity to do 5 days a year of pro-bono work with a preferred charity or community group. Lots of people in the firm are foodies (myself included) and so we make a point of catching up regularly for discussion groups with our colleagues over lunch in one of London's many restaurants. The key thing that I love about working at Berkeley is the fact that we take pride in delivering successful change for our clients but make sure that we have fun doing it at the same time. Our clients love working with us and this is seen in the high amount of repeat work that comes through the door. As a consultant, there is no bonus structure for selling work - unlike some other consulting firms, our focus is on doing the best job for our clients and I think this is why Berkeley is a highly respected firm in the marketplace.

Cons

- The company has a flat structure - just partners and consultants. If you want a shiny title and rapid progression, this may not be the place for you. - There is no performance bonus, which some people may find off-putting (personally for me I like this because it provides more financial security and we are paid competitively) - The collaborative approach can sometimes turn into 'group think'. If you are an ambitious and entrepreneurial person who wants to innovate and move quickly, this could be a frustrating environment - As a consultant, I manage people in client teams but not internally. Therefore if you wanted to move back into a big consulting firm as a partner or senior manager, this could be restrictive
