Pros

Some excellent employees, hard working and dedicated and willing to put in the extra time and effort to get a job done right. Realization by new senior management team that the company had problems under former management that needed to be fixed. Good basic software products that have been working well in universities and hospitals for years. This is a good place to get a first job, then move on to a more stable company where one can build a real career.

Cons

Major problem has been the "bull in the china shop" fashion in which new management team has tried to fix old problems. New CEO says he wants to be "transparent" and the company has a great future, then several weeks later he fires a dozen or more people, killing morale. Staff numbers are down substantially over the past year. New senior management team does not live anywhere near Ithaca, NY, so no company interest in the community in which CBORD is headquartered or in its local employees. President is a turnaround specialist brought in by CBORD's corporate owner. CBORD's basic problem is that it was sold a decade ago to Roper Technologies, whose focus is on rapid quarterly growth of earnings for Wall Street rather than the gradual, steady long-term growth of the company. Several company benefits have been cut since Roper purchased CBORD, further depressing morale.

Many of CBORD's employees have worked here for 10+ years. Their willingness to put in the extra effort to meet goals and support customer satisfaction is part of what makes CBORD an industry leader. CBORD is one of the biggest employers locally, but also has a global focus. All healthy companies have turnover and personnel change; as CBORD strategically grows, decisions have to be made whether it is personnel, processes, or reorganizing to better use top-notch talent.

Shame!

Pros

Just a (smaller than market value) paycheck. That's it. There are a few good people left here, but most have been fired or have escaped on their own.

Cons

Just about everything that's important. What was once a vibrant, visionary and compassionate company is now a blind and leaderless cog in an uncaring corporate machine. CBORD is terminal. Run away!

In times of change, some feel anxious and uncertain; varying opinions about motives and company direction can be a driver of that anxiety. The culture of CBORD has changed with a goal of empowering employees and more transparent communication. Some have chosen to move on and others have remained and adapted to change.
