Pros

Great floor staff on adult units Good EDO people who do their best with tough customers One good supervisor who works on nights, and the rest don't know how to do the nurse's job and therefore can't help when intakes are out the door. Some that do are more focused on their school work.

Cons

Focused on exploiting insurances PET team writes weak holds to get pt in to the hospital and out of the neighboring ERs Cronyism amongst pediatric staff and management. Some good psychologists that do care Most Groups run by student psychologists New nurses are feed to the wolves with limited support by management, no real preceptorship training or program. Paper charting and instructed to chart to the negative on patients. Too many intakes with consideration to staff capacity to maintain unit safety. Use cameras to write people up Management of three units is weak and focused on passing inspections Some Medications not available due to costs and patients told to bring their own. One seclusion room and highly volatile unit. Staff too young to have bigger picture sensibilities Loads of inappropriate relations with management of units and staff and amongst staff Extending holds to generate $, knowing that they can't get a hearing scheduled over the weekend, meaning they have to stay at least a few extra days on top of the hold they're written on.

Pros

It stayed on top of the latest technology within reason. Employees are encouraged to improve processes by utilizing technology and reducing overall cost to the company and the environment. From an organization perspective I feel UHS is an excellent company with good financials. If you are part of upper management it is very lucrative.

Cons

IS Department morale is low overall. Management is never content with the work that is performed by the teams. Many of us put between 50 and 60 hours on average a week and get little or no merit increase at the end of the year. We are told telecommuting is not allowed, so everyone has to come in the office for 40 hours. However, just about everyone in IT/IS work from home to keep up with the work load past the 40 hours. We are constantly reminded that we are lucky to have a job! The department/company wasn't always this way. . . Lot has changed in the last 5 years!

Pros

The company has some good people and a friendly fun environment (based on department). Compensation is good, as well as a retirement plan.

Cons

This company does not value non-white employees. I have watched over the years how I may receive a promotion while people who were hired with me are still at the lower tier levels within the department. I would like to say it's one employee who got the short end of the stick but no, it's happening over and over and the people of color here feel discriminated against yet they feel as though they can't speak on the matter. Very disappointing!
