Pros

The company is growing fast! That gives individual employees a lot of opportunity to affect best practices and how we do things on a company wide basis. Lots of opportunity to have your voice heard by your direct managers and executives.

Cons

The company expects employees to affect change if you see something that needs to be changed or made better. This can put a lot of pressure on employees, but overall is worth it. Complainers need not apply. If you have an issue help figure out how to fix it!

Pros

The people here are nearly all passionate about what they do, and learning how to be the best they can be within that role. UserTesting is fast-paced work environment, but the culture and company benefits foster a positive work+life balance. What might be best about working at UserTesting is the level of autonomy and respect that is given to employees once they have been fully onboarded and proven they can do quality work. Hard work and demonstrations of intelligence do not go unnoticed here. On another note, I've been able to make contacts at a large amount of other companies by virtue of working as a consultant here.

Cons

We're not quite to the point of being a large, have-every-benefit-imaginable sort of company. That said, this isn't a huge drawback, just don't expect to liken our lunch room to those at Google and Facebook. In addition, the pay is a bit of a trade-off considering the same role (UX Researcher) at other companies is paid significantly more than those at UserTesting. However, this comes along with the opportunity to work with a massive amount of different projects, methodologies, and companies, so it seems to be worth it.

Pros

If your young and have no experience in software design or research, Usertesting is a good place to learn some buzzwords that may get you a job somewhere else where you can learn about the industry

Cons

I was directly told by management that Usertesting was all about providing fast and cheap service to its customers, if your looking to create good work this is not the place for you. An extremely top down organization, every researcher I worked with said the same thing, "6 months and you've learned everything you possibly could and need another job to further a career and afford living in Silicon Valley." It over works it's research team, claiming to be a new start-up and forcing employees to work work 60 hour work weeks every 3-4 weeks. All research conducted is based off of what the sales team can sell and not tied to any design sciences.

UserTesting Response

I'm the CEO of UserTesting and I don't think this review was actually posted by one our current employees. We anonymously survey our employees every quarter and there is no responses that would correlate with this review. I also meet one-on-one with every employee on an on-going basis to find out how people are doing and what problems they're seeing. Based on these conversations, I don't think this review is real. That being said, we make it a priority to enable people to have a good work/life balance and not put in "60 hour work weeks".
