Pros

Good work and life balance.

Cons

C-Level executives (no tangible direction, last batch cash grabbed the Advent buyout and left within a couple months) Middle management (Constant turn over, ignores reports) Lack of adequate raises (2-4 % a year if you're lucky) Purchased by a Private Equity firm (Waiting to be laid off or sold) Lack of opportunities (You have to find your own) Morale is non-existent, aside from being bought by a profitable company that is public, there is no future here.

Pros

I absolutely love working with my team. My manager is fully supportive of my professional development and consistently advocates for me. A good bit of the work has been helpful in terms of skill development, too. My department seems to have its act together to a reasonable extent and my colleagues are all kind people.

Cons

The CEO is out of touch with the reality of the circumstance his employees are in. He stands in front of the company and tells everyone to act like adults and learn to manage their own budgets, claiming that they're compensated competitively (market research does not support this claim nearly across the board) while he's cashing in on millions of dollars every year (not to mention that promotions/raises were put on hold indefinitely as a result of acquisition). He also advertises values he doesn't live by when making company decisions, which he'll unilaterally do in the absence of other leadership that may oppose him. If I could do it again, his disposition, actions, inappropriate behavior, and general strategic direction would make me seriously reconsider taking a job at Maxar.

Pros

-Relatively interesting and cool job -You will be paid a little bit more than you would be as a retail worker

Cons

-You will be paid a little bit more than you would be as a retail worker, even if you have a decade of expirience in your field. -Managers and executives are the most incompetent I have ever encountered. I'm prior enlisted so this is quite an accomplishment -Lowest pay in the industry - Managers treat employees (even ones with a decade plus of expirience) like children - Company loves the dollar signs behind contracts, but are unwilling to allocate required resources to completing the contracts. No respect to customers or attempt at quality is given - When they bring up the previous problem, Managers will essentially try to blackmail you ot weaponize HR. - Company overpromises to customers, employees pay for it in burnout - The way contracts are negotiated is the most backwards I have ever seen. A contract due at the end of the year won't be thru negotiating until the end of the 2nd quarter of that year. Guess who's on the hook? Not the Managers, the workers. - You know the meme about managers giving you a pizza party instead of a raise that is at least half what inflation is? Maxar embodies it. - The software utilized by this company is the most backwards and upside-down I have ever seen. You basically have to learn how to be a system administrator to use it. - Lots of promises are made every year a quarter. Most are lip service. - A lot of unnecessary stress, the job is super simple, leadership and software overcomplicates everything and the company is completely unwilling to get out of its own way. - Promotions are given to manager buddies, not people with years more expirience.
