Mortgage Loan Processor II - Deceiving

Pros

Very laid back environment, a good job for independent employees who like to work at their own speed.

Cons

Deceiving on opportunities for advancement Management really plays favorites Very high school like environment Open positions are not open to all the staff, management just moves people they like into open positions without allowing other individuals to even apply. I was initially told that I could make up to $2500 a quarter in bonus on top of my hourly rate. I was not told that once I had completed my 3 months through a temp agency I would have to be officially hired on and go a minimum of another 3 months before I would even be eligible for it, and that would only be if I was moved up to level 2 at the end of that three months, which was not a gauruntee. I was told once I was promoted to a level two that I would make $20 an hour, and when I finally was promoted it was only $18 an hour. There is no coaching, little to no training, and if management gives feedback it is almost exclusively negative.

Pros

Washington Federal is a bank that is rapidly trying to update their image and branding through rapid adoption of technologies that are seen as good value. The leadership is committed to bridging the overwhelming gaps between where they are as a company and where they want to be.

Cons

Not all technological advances are well thought out, and at its core WAFD is still that brick and mortar bank that didn’t have email before 2012. Advancement is not awarded based on merit or achievement, rather it’s loosely based on who you know, not what you know.

Boring with slow growth opportunity

Pros

Some coworkers are great and the work is easy. Awesome healthcare and I’m retirement.

Cons

Most days are boring beyond belief - if you are at a slow branch. Corporate structure prevents you from learning other jobs if it’s not in your job description. Slow advancement opportunities.

Thanks for the post. If your Manager is not working with you to grow our business today, we have room to improve. All of us need to be challenged everyday. We recognize that with the changing digital world we have to evolve and adapt which is why we launched Vision 2025 to become a digital first bank that allows our branches to focus more on relationships and less on transactions. I expect you will see more opportunities as we evolve. The great news is we are operating from a position of strength. I am happy to speak to you live if you would like.
