Unethical Leaders

Pros

At least you are employed

Cons

Diversity is a joke and discrimination is real. Feel free to google how many discrimination claims and lawsuits Wellstar has for its treatment of minorities (both patients and employees). It's so bad that they are currently being investigated for systemic racism which shows how many complaints there have been and how severe the issue is. What is worse is leaderships unethical behavior regarding the known problem. Falsified or inaccurate data is deliberately submitted to achieve recognition as a Great Place to Work at the instruction of the CEO. Employees face sanctioned retaliation if they voice concerns about how they are being treated. They are black balled within the company and forced out. The problem is so bad that they recently had a mass resignation of minority leaders due to the mistreatment of minorities and unethical behavior by executives and senior leaders. Wellstar is a breeding ground for institutionalized racism, classism, colorism, nepotism, cronyism, and discrimination. Employees have no where to turn either. Typically, HR is the neutral department that helps resolve these issues. However, HR is only effective at the hospital-level. It is corporate HR that is the worst offender in the unethical and often illegal behavior. The compliance hotline is outsourced and unresponsive. The woman in legal is incompetent, ineffective, and abrasive which is probably why there are so many lawsuits against the company by ex-employees. There is a good ole boy culture of corruption and cronyism at Wellstar that anyone considering a job should know before working here.

Care's very little about their Providers

Recommend

Pros

Nurses and Staff are excellent

Cons

Wellstar cares very little for their providers. They have repeatedly violated their side of their contracts, under the pretense of "We have better lawyers than you". They have forced call upon providers, after stating that there was no call during the interview and in the contract. During the COVID pandemic, they cut provider pay by 20% across the board. They also have shown very little appreciation to their providers during this time. They offered "perks" to Nurses and Staff, to show appreciation for the hard work during the pandemic, but then specifically excluded physicians and APP's. Despite being told that administration has an "open door policy" regarding issues, any attempt to reach out to administration about concerns is quickly met with a patronizing "shut up and get back to work" response. I had received warning from other physicians prior to joining Wellstar, that they treated their providers extremely poorly.

Pros

Brand new facility is beautiful and the volume is high so you have the chance to see everything.

Cons

It's way too big of a department. Most of the nurses and techs do not know each other. Management does not know even the names of most of their employees. Pay is horrible. Also, there is a revolving door with management. Overall, there is little cohesiveness keeping staff together and morale is always low.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. At Wellstar, our leadership teams are committed to providing a supportive and welcoming work environment for all employees. We value our team members and understand that they are the key to our success. In regard to compensation, there are many variables in calculating pay rate such as ensuring our rates are market competitive, candidate specialization, years of experience and other factors. We appreciate your insight and your feedback.
