Pros

Met some great people working there.

Cons

Kennestone Care Coordination department: Management does not care about you, or the patients. It is all about numbers. The executive director of care coordination at Kennestone will ask you to unsafely discharge patients and do other unethical things. They do not support you and will throw you under the bus in a heart beat. You are asked to challenge physicians and their decision to keep patients admitted. Department management is full of bullies. They are not shy about yelling at employees, or threatening them. You are never recognized for your hard work, but instead constantly told to do better and meet unrealistic expectations. No work life balance. You have to beg to have PTO approved. I was once told I shouldn't go to HR unless I have my resignation in hand. HR is impossible to get in contact with. You are constantly sent to a general voicemail and your specific HR rep's contact information is not available to you. High turn over. Do not work for this department.

Pros

Team work and dedicated staff that believes in mission and perseveres in even toughest environment Some unique benefits

Cons

Toxic/unsupportive environment where achievements are not recognized and favoritism is apparent Achievements are not recognized or rewarded finger pointing is common place and seems to be embraced over true strategic planning Lack of accountability and inability to make decisions Turnover is rampant and increasing with no clear plan to retain those who have remained dedicated to Wellstar Bullying seems to be respected and even rewarded via growing responsibility and promotions at the most senior levels Health insurance is awful with highest rates around

Pros

- Aaron Henry, our manager in CVICU, is one of the best bosses I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He cares about each of his staff, and tries his best to accomdate when able. - Wonderful place to obtain CVICU experience (ECMO, LVAD, IABP, etc...)

Cons

- Wellstar has mandated all staff receive the Covid-19 vaccine or be terminated - Many of the nurses in the unit remind me of high school girls, because there is so much gossip, and they will throw tantrums if they don't get their way. - Pay is mediocre compared to other Atlanta hospitals. - The Cardiothoracic Surgeons (Dr. Luu; Dr. Burke; Dr. Myung) are hands-off, so we communicate almost exclusively with their PA's and NP's. - Their (CT Surgeons) PA's and NP's are also demeaning and talk down to new staff. - Poor interprofessional communcation between the CT surgeons, Critical Care, and Heart Failure teams; which often results in the nurse serving as the messenger between them. - Grossly understaffed - There is borderline (arguably actual) discrimination against those who choose not to be vaccinated, regardless of legitamate reasons.
