Pros

Pay was good, was interesting working downtown and in skyscraper

Cons

Bad benefits. Health insurance was sub-par. HR department immature and unethical in their actions. IT Department was a revolving door of people. Mostly because of the management decisions, and actions. If they didn't like you, which was most, you were terminated. FTE or Contractor. Didn't matter. I worked many hours and was salaried. Told I really didn't put in the extra time. Responsibilities were given that were out of scope with job. Favoritism was rampant. Lots of behaviors that played out like a reality TV show where people are voted off the island so to speak. No work life balance. Organizational goals were in flux daily. Fires always being put out daily and many times could have been avoided. VPs use worker bees as escape goats for their bad decisions. Very cut throat department with people being nice but then later throwing you under the bus. Bad corporate culture to the extreme. VPs don't like being questioned when facts support they are clearly not disseminating the correct information. Unrealistic expectations of employees like business trips that get extended by days at no notice. Trouble getting reimbursement for travel expenses on out state business trips after you paid out of your own pocket. Went on for weeks. Tense work environment. All in all, it started great and I was their biggest supporter then I was slowly treated with no respect and poorly after being so ethical and hard working. Not sure what the environment is in 2016 but in hind sight I could have saved a lot of time and heart ache by skipping this opportunity.

Western Alliance Bank Response

Thanks for your review and specific comments about working in IT at Western Alliance. Western Alliance has indeed been growing through acquisition as well as organically at a strong rate, and managing through this kind of change is part of the picture you’re painting. Your concerns about IT could spring, in part, from some of the hurdles of combining systems after acquisitions, which is challenging for most organizations. Recognizing this, we did add more project management staff, as well as HR team members, to support the transition and the company overall. For Western Alliance, this time of growth in the second half of 2015 set the stage for record performance quarter over quarter, and we are grateful to our hard-working and talented employees for all they did to make this happen. The big picture is that many people are building long-term careers and do have rewarding, positive work lives at our fast-growing company – and it’s our goal that every employee find the fit they’re seeking within our organization. We regret that working at Western Alliance was not a positive experience for you, and your feedback will help us do better. Regarding your comment on benefits, we have focused on adding to health benefit options because of employee feedback like yours, and more plans are available in 2016.

Pros

This organization is wonderful. There seems to be a solid vision for growth, the communication lines are open. Good benefits and, nice day-to-day perks. Great location. It really is a nice place to work

Cons

An entire department is broken and no one seems to want to do anything about it. Unprofessional is an understatement at times. Human Resources department is laughable at best. They don't seem to serve a functional purpose.

Pros

Good pay and bonus are the only thing keeping this place from being a ghost town. However their medical benefits are the worst of any place I've ever worked.

Cons

Lazy middle management, HR department doesn't notice what's going on and when issues are brought up, little or nothing happens. Festering time bomb. Toxic environment of pissed off women who are mad that the men make more, get more opportunities, obvious disparate treatment. Low morale and obvious chaos amongst the team. Massive turnover and lack of training. Sad place.
