Pros

You make lots of money and the benefits are great. Some of the people that you get to work with is really nice.

Cons

Management doesn't follow the codes of Ethics. Management only cares about money. Management don't supervise. Supervisors don't care about the patients or the people the work with.

Thank you for taking time to provide feedback on Corizon Health. We are glad to hear you feel the benefits and pay are great and the other staff you work with are enjoyable to work with. Employees at every level of the organization are required to complete Code of Conducts & Ethics training upon hire and annually thereafter. If someone feels there is a violation there are multiple avenues an employee can make a report. It is very important to follow all security rules when working in a correction environment. Supervisors/Managers are directed to be firm, fair and consistent in their interaction with staff and inmates/patients. Heather Dale, MBA Sr. Employee Relations Specialist

Pros

Casual Fridays is the only pro this company has. Also, the holidays in which the company closes are wonderful because it is paid time off to get away from there and spend that time relaxing with friends and family.

Cons

Lazy and careless management that is unethical, ineffective in leadership and does not have a backbone. Low pay for the amount of work that keeps piling up on your desk, expensive insurance, very basic amount of time off, has cliques all throughout management and one has to be apart of the clique to get promoted and to be treated fairly. It seems like the less knowledge an employee has and the less an employee works, the easier it is to move up in the company and make a good salary. Horrible communication and work ethic with management.

Without knowing what department you are in, it’s hard to speak to specifics you’ve outlined below. I would encourage you to call the corporate compliance line if you truly feel there are unethical practices happening in your area. Those sorts of accusations are not taken lightly. As it pertains to low pay- we have a compensation department that does rigorous market surveys and uses government reporting tools to determine pay ranges for our corporate positions. We don’t have significant challenges in filling corporate roles, which is typically an indicator that we are market competitive. We offer 16 different options for insurance, depending on what carrier you choose, and which level of coverage you need. Personally, I am paying about $25/check for insurance, and I think that’s more than reasonable. It’s a cafeteria plan, so, if you don’t want certain parts of the insurance- say dental or vision, you opt out, and don’t have to pay for those. Time off equates to 25 days/year right out of the gate, with bumps every few years, based on longevity. 5 weeks PTO is also market competitive, if not slightly more generous than industry norm. Ultimately, a place of employment is about more than pay or benefits or PTO. I stay because I love the people I work with, the opportunities I’ve been given and the investment the company has made to my professional development. I’ve seen lots of long time co-workers promote or move in to other departments, and I think the organization does a great job of fostering that, for those willing to put in the work and be 100% dedicated to what we do. I’m sorry this hasn’t been your personal experience. Sincerely, Courtney Penning Director of Talent Acquisition

I’m glad you like your peers, but am sorry you feel there are “mental beat downs” and issues with upper management. I’d be happy to produce numbers on staffing issues, if you would like to respond with a specific site. Often, when ADON and DON are taking shifts, it means we are short nurses. We have some innovative new programs we are using in certain contracts to head this off. Please feel free to contact me directly for more information I may be able to share with you, as an ADON.
