Pros

Great place to start off and launch your career to a better company.

Cons

Place grabs people in need of a job and depletes them of all their motivation through poor business practice and low pay. Compensation clearly not competitive, management both senior and mid-level entrenched in old recycled ideas, zero retention initiatives, zero career planning, lack of mentor-ship, lack of holistic incentives and a severe lack of accountability at all levels. Management has no structured plan, top level seems to have even more of disconnect. Company cares less about employees or morale and more so about the bottom line.

Pros

A means of resume-building experience. You're working and earning a semi-monthly paycheck. Frequent free breakfast & lunch, courtesy of Zones vendors.

Cons

Company offers training to new hires in sales. Everyone else (considered "support") gets no training and is at the mercy of co-workers to learn their jobs. AEs who produce are given free rein to treat support in a very demeaning manner, bordering on verbal abuse. Zones is a very competitive environment with perks given to those whose numbers are good, regardless of how those numbers were met. A recent "reorganization" demoted two very popular female managers of color, while leaving their peers in their managerial roles. Have applied for several positions within the company and not been granted an interview (consistent with the experience of several co-workers). It's extremely demoralizing to see outside people hired when existing employees were not considered. Company brings in new people for identical role but with better title & pay. Again, very demoralizing for current staff. Company announces new executive hires (Sr. VPs, directors, etc.) frequently - sometimes two per week! But employee wages are amongst the lowest in the industry and increases - even for stellar performers - are 2-3%. Many functions have gone to India (where Zones has a HUGE support staff), and most of us fear that's where our jobs are going.

Pros

-Tons of free stuff. Lots of free food and happy hours. -The people who work there are great. Some of my best friends in the city I've met through this job. -Willis (Sears) Tower office looking at the lake. -New CEO who I think is making positive steps to grow the company.

Cons

-Total dial slave. Boiler Room mentality. -If you aren't in your cubical during non-lunch hours, you will be asked why. This job is the first time since 8th grade that I've had to ask to go to the bathroom. You also have scheduled breaks during the day. -Top performing sales people are still yelled at for lack of activity, even if they're surpassing their sales goals and staying busy. The managers care more about dials and activity as opposed to actual sales. -You are a number to Zones, and to your managers.
