Could not be a worse company

Pros

The day to day people you work with are great. Remote

Cons

Pay is all over the place. Some management make less than entry level positions. Leads making less than their ambassadors is pretty despicable. I found out that my team lead was making LESS than me, and I was making peanuts. Raises came whenever they felt like giving them. At times 6 months late. Some people never even got cost of living raises. The pay was NOT close to a living wage. When the contract was lost we were promised transparency. Instead, we got a canceled meeting and then an email letting us know we were all losing our jobs, no severance a few hours later. The same day, the person who SHOULD have given us the news was overseas opening a new office. CELEBRATING (FB ) We have since found out that the overseas staff was offered new positions, while US based employees were let go. They did give us a list of current openings in the company, but 95% of them were executive level jobs which no one was qualified for. Upper (the people above our day to day teams/managers) management changes so often and in pretty shady ways (read: just before lay-offs started key people moved jobs). They have a massive history of laying people off and trying to hire them back for HUGE pay cuts. I could go on all day with this, but honestly who cares.

Pros

Remote work quarterly gift cards benefits surprisingly good for non-married employees

Cons

No pay raises Pay raises often promised and then rescinded for dubious reasons Sexual harassment runs amok Underqualified employees are hired with the promise of training, and then punished when they underperform without the promised training. CEO is aloof and strange Metrics > Employee happiness Management was previously made up of incompetent bullies, now is filled by regular incompetent people "Promotions" are lies, they do not come with more money, just more responsibilities and your title doesn't change internally. Management will retaliate against employees who complain. Racist and misogynist practices ensure that all positions of power are white men. In particular, women are relegated to "soft skills" roles, regardless of their interests. As someone who worked in more advanced technical roles, I only ever had one colleague who wasn't a man and she was demoted quickly.

Toxic Corporate Culture

Pros

Zones is a place to learn the basics of the industry so you can move to the next step of your career. While there are a lot of bad people at Zones the good ones can be a joy to work with.

Cons

Zones has a toxic work environment and it is just constantly getting worse. It is a late 90s sales is king environment where people are allowed to treat others like crap so long as you close the deal. This is not limited to sales people but also upper management. At Zones even the leadership will denigrate you if it is a means to their self serving end In talking with a former sales manager he compared zones to an abusive relationship. If you stay long enough it will break you down and convince you that you are not capable of doing any better and that you don't deserve better. It doesn't end at the lack of respect. Though on top of being treated terribly Zones severely under pays its employees. They base this on the fact that they are 30 minutes south of Seattle means they don't need to provide pay that competes with Seattle. Then there is the outsourcing. Massive outsourcing. They first outsourced most of their support staff to india...then they outsourced their India staff to Pakistan because it was cheaper. They will try to outsource anything they can get away with if it saves a few bucks. Never assume your job is safe. They pretend to care about the culture so hard but do nothing to effect change. Survey after survey goes out and the number one issue is trust. People don't feel like they can be honest to their bosses without retribution. This STIFLES creativity, production, progress, and joy.
