9/11 can never be forgotten, but neither can the spirit of unity and resilience we saw then. Giving back in your community is one way you can help rekindle that strength today and all throughout the year.
Please join us in congratulating Amy Solomon on her promotion to regional director! In her new role, Amy will oversee operations and team members at 15 GIANT and MARTIN'S stores in central and western Pennsylvania, ensuring that every customer has an outstanding experience whenever and wherever they shop. An experienced retail operator, Amy has been with The GIANT Company for 25 years. Amy first joined the team in 1996 as an assistant store manager. Always eager to learn and grow through new opportunities, after a brief hiatus from the company, she rejoined the team in 2012. She was named store manager in 2015 and most recently served as center store manager for the Harrisburg region. Amy, we're excited to see you take on this new challenge and know you'll continue to be an outstanding contributor as regional director. We're lucky to have you on our team, and our team members and customers are lucky to have you in their corner!
At The GIANT Company, we believe that food should never be an impossible choice. As #HungerActionMonth gets underway, we're doubling down on our efforts to eliminate hunger in the communities we serve. We'll be taking action all month long to help local food banks and pantries provide meals to families facing food insecurity, donating our time, food, and dollars to help fill empty plates. Join us in our efforts. During September, for every new follower of our company page and each like and share of this post, we'll donate $10, which helps provide 100 meals to Feeding America, up to 50,000 meals. Together, we can #makeadifference and ensure all families can gather around the table and enjoy a meal together.
As we bid farewell to Nicholas Bertram, we can’t help but be struck by the impact he has had on our team, our company, our customers, and our communities. Nick, you’ve left a lasting mark – and you did it all with a smile, weaving your positive, innovative spirit into the fabric of our culture here at The GIANT Company. Thank you, and as always, take care!
Last week, we wrapped up our Summer 2022 Internship Program by celebrating our interns at a special graduation luncheon. While connecting over a meal - one of our favorite things to do - our interns reflected on their time with us, sharing what they learned and what they'll take with them as they continue their education and career journeys. We could not be more proud of this group and all they achieved this summer. Through hands-on training, volunteer events, store visits, grand openings, team building activities, and more, they seized every opportunity and lived each of our team promises: Be You, Grow Through New Opportunities, and Make a Difference. A successful internship program would not be possible without the efforts of many. Kelsey Sloan, SHRM-CP, manager of talent acquisition, thanks to you and your team for coordinating a program full of incredible experiences. And to all of The GIANT Company team members who served as supervisors, thank you for helping to develop the future leaders of our industry by sharing your knowledge and time.
Our bakery team members are the best of the best, and Bakery Manager Bobby Small at the Manchester, PA, GIANT is no exception! Creating custom cakes is a part of the job and something Bobby really enjoys. He's developed his skills over the years and has made many unique - and tasty - treats for customers celebrating special moments. Earlier this year, Bobby and team members Megan Wilderson and Shayla Oerman entered our annual contest to design the birthday cake for Philadelphia's beloved Phillie Phanatic, going head to head with talented bakers and decorators across the company. A favorite tradition of The GIANT Company and one of the best parts about being the Official Grocer of the Philadelphia Phillies, it also gives a whole new meaning to the phrase, "Batter up!" Their winning design perfectly captured the theme of "Circus" and included the Phanatic's friends, favorite stadium snacks, and of course, a big top tent! Its brightly colored design and detailed work made it the clear winner in the eyes of judges - and by the looks of the onfield presentation, the Phanatic agreed too
On #NationalNonprofitDay, we celebrate the incredible work nonprofit organizations do and the positive impact they have on our communities. The GIANT Company is proud to partner with hundreds of local organizations each year as we work to heal our planet, eliminate hunger, and change children's lives. Together, we're making a difference and creating a better tomorrow.
It’s Monday, and you know what that means – time to Meet a Team Member! Say hello to Bree Wallen Frampton: social media guru turned recruitment specialist. Bree began her career at The GIANT Company in 2019 as the assistant brand manager of social media, supporting the communications and social media teams, and accepted her current role in January. Bree says her biggest professional accomplishment so far has been getting out of her comfort zone. “Although I have a degree in human resources, my entire professional background has been in marketing, specifically social media. So when I accepted this role, it was like “starting from scratch,” which was a little scary at first. But, I trusted my gut, and with a little courage, I jumped right in and am trying to learn everything I can about a new side of the business. I’m really proud that I decided to take a leap of faith and continue to grow through new opportunities.”
We're halfway through our Millions of Meals Challenge! During special promotional events throughout the year, for every customer who purchases $15 or more of participating items at any GIANT or MARTIN'S store or online, we donate $10 to Feeding America to help provide 100 meals to our neighbors in need. Thanks to the generosity of many, two million meals have been donated so far! Two million down, two million to go! #ForTodaysTable #MillionsofMeals #MakeADifference
