Today, we announced a $250,000 emergency grant program, in partnership with Team Pennsylvania, to support small businesses in Pennsylvania’s food supply chain impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. As Pennsylvania’s second-largest private employer and as a company that has been able to continue operating during the pandemic, we have a responsibility to help mitigate the economic impact in the Commonwealth. From family farms to local food artisans and manufacturers throughout the rest of the supply chain, small businesses are hurting, and livelihoods are at risk. These men and women are instrumental in feeding Pennsylvanians, and The GIANT Company wants to do its part to help them in their time of need. Applications are being accepted through April 24 from any small business involved in growing, making or processing food within the Commonwealth. For more information, visit https://lnkd.in/eHY7hA9.

Shout out to our good friend, Gale Ferranto, president of Buona Foods, who was recently interviewed by CNN about the growing popularity of mushrooms. Gale’s family farm, located about two hours from our Carlisle office, has been growing mushrooms for our stores for more than 30 years. In 2018, the company was recognized as our Locally Grown Grower of the Year and last year, we were honored to present her father, Robert “Bear” Ferranto with our Lifetime Achievement Award. A passionate advocate of the state's agriculture industry, Gale works tirelessly to support the men and women who feed Pennsylvania families and millions more across the country. As lovers of local produce, we couldn’t be prouder to offer her family’s harvest to our customers. Learn more about Gale, her family business and all things mushroom here.
There aren’t enough words to express the gratitude we have for our team members and the care they are showing to their customers during this unprecedented time, but this seems like a good place to start. Please join us in thanking our team for their unwavering commitment to the communities they serve!

On #InternationalWomensDay and every day, we proudly celebrate the contributions and successes of our female team members – and celebrate we did! Over the weekend, our store teams marked the occasion by wearing purple and hosting parties for team members. Happening today at our Carlisle office, a special “Each for Equal” event, including guest speakers Joann Romain and Kimberly Betts and an opportunity to give to #DressForSuccess, a program that provides professional clothes and job development opportunities for women.
