Strong compensation and culture, but lacks clarity and direction

Pros

Compensation is very competitive, even compared to many large tech companies. The company makes a genuine investment in employee well-being through a variety of programs and initiatives. There are frequent in-office activities that help foster a positive workplace culture, and, at least in the local office, you generally feel valued as a person rather than just an employee.

Cons

There is very little transparency, and the company lacks clear business goals and direction. It often feels like decisions are made without a well-defined strategic plan. There is constant pressure to optimize processes and reduce costs, yet there is no consistent roadmap or alignment on how those objectives should be achieved. Executive leadership frequently appears misaligned on priorities, and leaders in support functions often bear the consequences of that lack of alignment. The local office was expanded to accommodate roughly twice the current headcount, yet the company has experienced little to no growth over the past two years. This disconnect between long-term investments and actual business direction creates uncertainty for employees and leaders alike.

Thanks for taking the time to share this after more than three years at ActiveCampaign! Competitive compensation, genuine investment in employee well-being, in-office culture, and feeling valued as a person rather than just an employee are things we work hard to get right, so we're glad those have been consistent for you. You're right that we've been in a period of significant transformation, including shifting our strategy around Active Intelligence and realigning how we operate as a business. We've made meaningful progress on strategic clarity over the past several months. Our AI-first direction is defined and we're committed to it. Leadership alignment has improved significantly with our new CPO and CTO structure, and we're working to ensure that clarity cascades through the organization in a way that actually lands at every level, not just in company-wide Town Halls. Clearer communication about where we're headed, what we're optimizing for, and what trade-offs we're making is something we owe our teams. Even when the news is hard, people deserve to understand the direction. For prospective employees: Ask about our strategic direction, how decisions get made, and how leadership communicates priorities across the organization. You should get specific answers about where we're headed and why. We appreciate you being here and the candor in this feedback! It's the kind of perspective that helps us get better. If you have anything else to share, please reach out to your manager or HRBP.

Pros

I act as the central bridge between the customer and the broader organization. By gathering critical technical data and collaborating directly with specialized internal departmentsincluding Deliverability, Billing, and our product. I drive effective resolutions for complex issues. This cross-functional experience has given me a deep understanding of how to successfully navigate and operate within a large corporate ecosystem.

Cons

Because ActiveCampaign is directly tied to a business's revenue and marketing success, customers are often highly stressed or frustrated when things go wrong. Regularly de-escalating tense situations, delivering bad news (like strict no-refund policies or deliverability blocks), and absorbing that customer frustration day after day can lead to burnout if you don't have strong boundaries.

Thanks for sharing this after more than three years at ActiveCampaign! The cross-functional work you're describing is exactly the kind of deep organizational knowledge that makes our CX team so valuable. We're glad that experience has given you a strong foundation for navigating complex environments! On the weight of customer-facing work, we're investing in resources that help our CX team manage the demands of the role sustainably because we want people to thrive here long-term. Your feedback on survey scoring is specific and valuable. We're working to ensure performance evaluations reflect agent behavior and quality. That's a meaningful distinction and one we want to get right. If you want to share more about what support would make the biggest difference for you and your team, your manager or HRBP would welcome that conversation! Thanks again for providing all your thoughts.

Thanks for sharing this. Benefits, professional environment, and competitive salary are things we've invested in intentionally, so we're glad those are working well for you! We're building out clearer frameworks and documented progression criteria so people can see exactly what's required to advance and what opportunities exist. The goal is making growth visible and achievable. On documentation, we're constantly working to make it easier to find what you need to do your job well. Better knowledge management and clearer internal resources are a priority as we scale! For prospective employees in Heredia: Ask about career progression frameworks, how documentation and internal resources are managed, and what the benefits package looks like. You should get specific answers about where we're headed. If you have any other feedback, please share it with your manager or HRBP. We appreciate all your input!
