Don’t be lured by flight benefits

Pros

Generally have good coworkers and once you’re in, company will never fire you

Cons

- Senior leadership is laughable with poor understanding of workplace trends, competitive comp and overvaluation of flight benefits - company can’t afford top talent so most people are those that can’t move to more competitive companies or that are stuck in H1B processing - pay and benefits is crap. No RSUs below the Director level, VC is 2 weeks, no paternity leave and salary is not competitive within DFW or against other industries - CEO is not forward thinking and wants teams to be in office 5 days a week. Most of his team are industry/company incumbents and have no outside experience - company performance across all metrics lags competitors. Look at LTR, stock price, ops performance, etc and Delta and United are better - company doesn’t know how to adapt to the future of travel or work and is not set up to thrive - company is obsessed with diversity among black and women so if you’re not in one of those categories (esp white or Asian male), good luck getting promoted

Pros

Ok benefits I guess nothing too special.

Cons

Literally upper management don't communicate at all Mandatory or Flex mandatory ALL THE TIME Terrible pay 14.74 (people at chick fila make more) Trash Union Managers who don't even know how to take a phone call but comes to micromanage you. flight benefits you can't even use No guaranteed vacation days off you have to bid for them No holiday pay, you get holiday vacation days to use NEXT YEAR!!! new hires will get a trash shift and then have to do mandatory overtime which for some reason is always 12 hours so if you work 1pm-10pm you are now working 1pm-2am. NO flexibility what so ever. Congratulations to those who've worked at this job for 30+ years they can literally do what they want but coming into this job as a new hire is not fun. This is not a good time to work for the airlines especially American. Go to delta or united. American airlines needs to get its stiff together cause this is not it.

Pros

Health Benefits are reasonable if you have a family. Flight benefits if you can manage to get on a flight

Cons

Starting Salary is 14.95 an hour. Very high paced and stressful. Stats are expected in all categories at almost 100pct and based on seconds per call. Zero weeks of vacation for the 1st year. Work shifts, weekend and holidays. Attendance policy is ridiculous and no extenuating circumstances. Impossible to plan anything after your shift or DAYS OFF due to mandatory overtime which happens ALOT! You are given an hour notice that you are required to stay usually 12 hours after your shift. They will call you on your days off to come in. Again usually 12 hours and they can grab you the day before and tell you that you nee to come in on day off. Written up if cannot stay and Management has implemented mando several consecutive days in a row. Training is poor they are short staffed so just trying to get bodies on the phones and thrown to the wolves. Not worth your time. You can make more elsewhere be appreciated
