Business Relations/Sales and Marketing Specialist
Pros
If you are the right, lazy type of individual- you can get away with doing no work in most departments for the menial salary around $30,000-$35,000. What Better Business Bureau has written on paper about ethics, transparency, honesty and everything else is written phenomenally (but it doesn't do much good when the leaders choose to break the rules for their own benefits. Some of the people that work(ed) there during my time were some of the most dedicated, ethical colleagues I've ever had the pleasure of working with (many of these have been fired/quit due to the conditions).
Cons
The largest of the cons start from the top. The deceit, lies, lack of transparency and fraud that occurs/allowed by upper management is unbelievable- especially when the company being discussed is Better Business Bureau. No room for promotion- unless you know them on a personal level (which is probably why you were hired in the first place). If that is the case, just kick back and watch your bank account increase from the work of those who care and have stellar work ethic. I watched a hard working individual have to wait 6 years for a position he deserved years before than while someone else was promoted to a high manager position a week after he was brought in who had connections with upper management. After a year and a half I was never given a formal review. The only quality manager I had was in Marketing (he was just fantastic as a colleague, manager, and trainer). He left. Business Relations/Sales and Member Pages are not given any formal training, quality control, nor hardly any supervision as far as I'm concerned- just shown an outdated computer and told to get to it after being handed a script that looks straight from a telemarketing company (no heart- all about the $). They will record certain calls on a very limited basis for quality assurance. The way they pay their commissioned employees are atrocious- the only ones getting paid well are the ones that have been around a while and aren't required to use a script. Some are still honest and upright, while others are still committing fraud (I have heard the lies stated by employees myself and witnessed management catch one for selling a business outside the building (which is not permitted) and he stated to the salesman "I didn't hear that." I have decided to talk to my lawyer and pursue further recourse. There is sufficient evidence to prove misconduct, failure to adhere to BBB Standards and policies, fraud, or at the very least- gross negligence throughout the company. It is tragic that the company I speak of is "Better Business Bureau." I was under the impression I would be working for an ethical and trustworthy company; but that was not the case. The real funny thing about it all is that I was fired closely after being named Employee of the Month by my peers (upper management formerly had a call in who would be named but now it is not).
