Poor management

Pros

Great coworkers work as a team to get the job done.

Cons

Management is actively reactionary. They would rather wait for a problem to surface than take a suggestion to prevent it from happening. Decisions are always put off to another time, until it’s too late, then everything stops and everyone else has to get it fixed. Then management throws the workers under the bus in front of the clients.

Pros

Pay is reasonable, benefits are okay, Paid "Mandatory Fun Days" are nice, option to work overtime as well as work remotely. Pretty awesome colleagues (for the most part).

Cons

Talked down to by management. Unless you're "in" with certain supervisors, they don't bother trying to have a conversation with you. One of the supervisors (who was a lead at the time) had singled me out and called me stupid in front of my colleagues over a simple mistake. Another lead snapped at me for having my cell phone in my hand when they walked up behind me (I was putting my phone on vibrate) and said, "Is THIS going to be a problem?" That same lead told me to be quiet when I was talking to another colleague and I laughed (wasn't loud at all) then that same lead, moments later did the same thing! Also, if you "don't fit in" with management, they may talk about you behind your back. I had a very serious and personal issue which I had confided in management about regarding my uncharacteristically low productivity. There was no empathy whatsoever. It's all about making the client happy. They forget about those of us who have went above and beyond to meet the needs of the company and the client all while sacrificing time with family and friends.

Walmart of Energy Efficiency

Pros

This is a decent place to learn about office culture and the energy efficiency industry.

Cons

CLEAResult (CR) has bought quite a few companies over the past few years even after telling employees publicly that we were past that. This creates a constant culture of disarray among teams and missions; resulting in mass exoduses of old and new employees. To address this, the company has been extremely aggressive about getting everyone on the same enterprise applications; steamrolling any dissent and overworking teams transitioning to it with unrealistic timelines as well as goals that compete with any initiatives aimed at increasing client satisfaction. It's stressful. When employees leave they are often not backfilled which creates loads of stress on teams and a domino like situation where whole teams leave within a few weeks of each other. Everyone is always looking for other opportunities and every week there is a going away happy hour or two. CR sees technical architects and IT as a cost burden instead of a resource. The company is completely top down and barely does anything to retain talent. Employees are underpaid and undervalued. CR could be doing so much more with their software and employees. It's really sad to see talent wasted across the board.
